Q: I'm looking for an income component to my portfolio. i already have decent exposure to large dividend paying companies (cdn banks, BCE, Telus, ENB, TRP, BEP, BIP, CU, VZ, MO). i have a small amount in bonds but i am hesitant putting more money towards bonds at this point. where else would you go to for income for a total return of 4%-5%? Riets (XRE)? Preferred shares? This will probably be a 3%-5% weighting in my portfolio and a long term holding. Thanks

Q: I am holding TIP in the US as inflation protection, however I am having doubts regarding this strategy. For real return type bond ETFs, an increase in the relevant CPI increases income, yet rising inflation will be met with rising interest rates on nominal bonds that will drive the price of inflation-protected bonds down as well, negating the benefit of the increased income on a total return basis. It would seem to me that real return bonds are only protection from a central bank that has lost control over inflation; orderly inflation not so much. Is this an accurate assessment?

Q: Good Morning: A two part question about CBO. First, what is the difference between CBO and CBO.A, and is one preferable to the other for retail investors? Second, and more importantly, I notice that the stated yield (on my BMO Investorline fact sheet) for CBO is currently 3.3%. In your opinion, would an increase in interest rates in the US be likely to affect this rate in a significantly negative fashion?

Q: Hello: I read a few of your recent answers to other people that mention MDA. I noticed that your report about this company is dated Mar. 2013. I also looked up their dividend history and saw that in Mar. 2015 they cut the dividend by 43%. So, I'm wondering, especially with the dividend cut, what is compelling about this company?

Q: I have watched this company, without actually buying any of its penny stock, for a few years now, fully expecting it to go under. (Initially its fortunes were closely tied to the mining industry.) However, to my surprise it has found other niches for its technology and trades fairly actively, settling down at around 4 cents. It seems to regularly get "rescued" by private placements, who in turn get warrants with a strike price a few cents higher than the share price. I presume that these private investors would not be putting their money into ADK if they didn't see some promise.

What is your opinion of the viability of this company? Is it a speculative buy?

Can shareholders of the cheaper B stock attend the annual general meeting and if yes do you need to own a minimum number of shares. Given the pullback today would it makes sense to buy? Thanks as always.

Q: SYZ and TNC both started to rollover weeks before this downturn. Now they are down considerably along with NYX and IRD. From reading all of the questions and answers pretty well everyday I have never heard anything negative about any of these, so do you think they are all good companies that will have good upside potential. Is there any preference for growth over the next six months? Thanks for your good service. Dennis

Q: What does it mean when a company like BCE files for debt shelf of up to $4 bln. Does it affect in negative or positive way price of company stock on the market.

Is it OK to by BCE now or is better to wait for market response to this
news about BCE.
