In the past, I have found that picking up tax loss stocks at this time of the year to be fairly rewarding. Can you please give me two or three names that are down on the year (or even beaten up badly) but offer some value. Thanks much - all the best over the holidays to you!

Q: A friend asked me to look at a mutual fund that lists the Mgmt/ MER @ 2.00% & 2.78 %. Does this mean the fee's for the fund are 4.78 % Why do they bother to separate the two percentages ??
Q: Can you comment on the recently released quarterly results(dec9)from Inscape.Do you think the company offers decent investment potential from this level
Q: Hi 5i Team,
Ever since Donald Trump announced his candidacy for the job of U.S. President, he has repeatedly made disparaging remarks about China. I'm starting to wonder if all this trash talk might not cause investors to dispose of any holdings they might have in Chinese companies.
I currently own shares in Alibaba but I fear that they might follow the same pattern as Boeing and Northrop Grumman did in the aftermath of negative tweets by the President-Elect in recent weeks.
Do you see this as a likely possibility? Should I sell as a precaution?

Q: Hi 5i: I want to add a renewable energy company (which can include nat gas) to a portfolio focused on dividend and dividend growers. The ideal company would of course offer some growth s well as safety. I have studied the usual suspects but I'm having trouble making a final decision. Your advice and suggestions would be appreciated.
If you were purchasing today, what stocks and/or ETFs would you buy for each of the TSX eleven sectors? (Consumer Discretionary, Consumer Staples, Energy, Financials, Healthcare, Industrials, Information Technology, Materials, Real Estate, Telecom, and Utilities). Please give at least two choices for each sector.
My daughter-in-law has finally sold her high-MER, low-performing mutual funds, and I have set up a self-directed account for her LIRA, her RRSP, and her TFSA. She is 48 and will probably work till at least 65.
Please feel free to deduct as many question credits as you deem necessary. Thanks in advance for all your valued assistance.
Q: Fund managed by J. Zechner & Assoc. - looking for a comment on the timing/safety of purchasing some units along with coupon rate reliability. Thanks
Could you please tell me your thoughts on HTO.UN - Global Water Solutions Fund. I know its low volume and is a relatively new fund. But it pays a decent dividend and I'm one who believes that water will become an increasingly scarce and valuable resource in the future - so looking for a way to enter this space for a very long term hold.
Could you also tell me your thoughts on how this fund compares with CWW and if you would have a preference between the two? And do you have any thoughts on investing water related companies/funds in general?
Q: I was wondering if there is an ETF for U.S. infrastructure? Would prefer to buy in Canadian dollars if possible. Thank you for your excellent service over the past year and happy holidays to everyone there.
Q: Dear 5i Staff,
I would like to participate in the energy price recovery and the expected new US Administration favorable bias toward energy companies.
My question is it better to invest in Canadian or US energy companies now
Which of these stock you favor: Duke, Exxon, Chevron or maybe an ETF is better. Any other suggestion.
Thank you and best wishes for the season.
