Q: I am thinking of investing in U.S. large cap companies more specifically an ETF. Are you better off to invest in a fund like SPY (U.S. dollars) or in the other canadian fund base companies like HXS,VUN or XUS. I noticed that the ytd. return is approx. 14% for SPY versus the others at %7% for this current year.
Q: Hi, have been thinking of selling Csh bought at 11.60,because of poor showing,and has been lowered from buy to hold.I also have Sia,Gud,Crh for a 8% sector weight.
Would you be fine with selling or keep holding,I do need the dividend.
Also if I sell could you give me 2 or 3 dividend replacements,don't worry about sector.

Q: I have the following dividend paying stocks in my portfolio. Pipelines, Enb., Trp, PPl 9%, Utilities, Bep, CU, EMA, FTS. 8%, Telcos, BCE, T. 3%, Banks TD, BNS, RY 12%. Industrial, BIP, CNR, WSP 8%. Consumer Couche Tard, Cineplex 4%. I hear all the experts say with rates rising and the emphasis on growth stocks in the trump era Dividend stocks will not do well. Q: I'm having trouble understanding why TOY has been losing ground for the past few weeks. It has the best selling toy for Christmas although I understand there have been issues with keeping up with demand. Any explanation why it's been steadily dropping of late?
Q: FFH doesn't seem to participate in a rising market and it also is not going up in a down market, would you consider ffh still a decent holding or would you recommend a better name or names in a correction.

Q: Further to my comment on Dec 2nd: I checked, and TD Waterhouse synthetic DRIP, as you thought, will not be giving the ECI discount on shares. It has to be done through the company itself to get the discount.
Q: So we've had the rate hike everyone knew we would have. The language was a tad more aggressive than expected and the market sold off. My confusion is why did Sun Life (and other insurance companies) and BNS (and most other banks) sell off too? Isn't this even better news for them?
Q: A comment by a member on his tsfa contribution .in my opinion the tsfa naps been the the best investment vehicle that ever was created and I will always be thank full to the Harper gov for introducing it .
My wife and I generate $600 tax free every month in dividends and in the new with add 7200 that we took out plus our 11000 allowance .
We have found lif rif and Resp to be a burden in our old age i view it as money behind the wall and withdrawals cause claw backs to our oas .
I would encourage ever one to take advantage to what I believe is the best investment vehicle ever introduced
