Q: Hello Peter and team: I am looking at the above rate reset preferred shares, both of which have a minimum reset rate of 5.75% at maturity and are currnetly yielding approx. 5.7%.
Assuming that interest rates are not set to rise substantially in the next few years, what other factors and risks may cause these preferred shares to drop in price and do you think that these are safe to hold for the yield for a 5 year+ hold in a TFSA. Is there any difference between the M & K series and which would be preferable to hold at this time.

Thank you for your advise.

Q: I'm always looking for good quality dividend companies (4-6%) with some growth potential. I'm currently at about 85-90+ % dividend companies with 10-15% that have more growth potential and little or no dividends. Can you direct me to the best source/list of the companies you sometimes refer to like Fortis that have never reduced their dividend. I believe they are referred to as the 'Dividend Titans"??

Q: Hi 5i,

All the previous questions about bank bail-ins and margin accounts has started getting me worried. I didn't realize that margin account holdings were not segregated like cash accounts. Anyway, I have accounts with one of the bank discount brokerages. My biggest account is a margin account. I don't use margin too often, but sometimes I will if I see good value and lack the funds at the time of purchase. Am I over-worrying things? I don't want to lose money in the event of a financial crisis with the bank. Should I convert my account to a cash account?

Thanks in advance!

Q: Hi,
Thanks for the tip of TMXMONEY to identify the sectors. It turns out I had miss-classified 3 of my stocks (SJ, IPL and ECI). I'm now questioning my weightings. I currently have the following:

Cons. Cyclical 11.9%
Cons. Defensive 0.0%
Financials 17.1%
Healthcare 3.6%
Energy 14.7%
Precious Metals 13.9%
Real Estate 0.0%
Industrials 9.2%
Utilities 0.0%
Technology 24.5%
Materials 4.6%
Communication 0.0%

I'm ok with some risk, which is probably evident from above. My precious metals may be a little high due to the recent bounce in this sector.

Based on the current market environment, do you see these weighting as appropriate? Are there any particular red flags that you see?

Thanks, Ian

Q: Hi 5i Team!

It looks ESL does not have price momentum, and SH experienced a strong reversal despite reporting decent numbers last week.

Is this a sector trend following the recent trend by CSU?

What is your expectation for forward looking results for ESL and SH for the next 2 - 4 quarters? Is this an opportune time to buy both?

Which is the better choice for capital appreciation for the next 12 months?

Q: I have 1600 shares of this looser,(cost $32.98) CIBC research's 12 mo target is $26.0, I am considering to sell it and replace it with a couple infrastructure stocks or ETFs. I like to have your opinion and suggestion. Looking for income and some growth.
Have looked at BIP.un but doesn't seem to have any growth in the next 12 months. I have AQN,H,RNW,FTS ZWU and ZUT in my portfolio. Many thanks J.A.P,Burlington

Q: Of my Industrial holdings, I currently own WSP, BYD.UN, XTC, and MG. Industrials are about 15% of my portfolio overall, which I think is decent, but am wondering if having BYD.UN, XTC, and MG carries too much exposure in the auto industry. Is there ever such a thing as too little diversity within a section?
