Q: Hi 5i, please advise on the following:
Q1 - What are the pros and cons of purchasing US ETF on the US exchange (VTI) vs buying on TSX (VUN) other than lower fees?
Q2 - Pros and Cons of buying hedged ETF vs. non-hedged.
Q3 - My daughter has her ESPP in a non-registered plan with a large US company. She is wondering if it makes sense to sell the shares and repurchase from her TFSA. The idea is to pay a smaller capital gains tax now and accrue future gains tax free. Going forward, she would sell each addition (2x/yr) and repurchase from her TFSA within days (assuming each sale generates a gain, the shift in price between sell date and repurchase date is minimal and she has complied with the holding period). Your thoughts?

Q: Thanks for the quick answer, in which you say there are 2 analysts covering Leon's with an average target price of $22.50.

When I go to the Company Profile page, it shows 1 analyst with a target of $17.00. Does the data base manager that feeds you your data need to update this? It has been like this for several months.

You also mention a special dividend...when is the date of record to be eligible for this?

I have built my daughter's RRSP with your wise direction. She is up 15 to 25% on BAM;EMA;FTS;L;OTEX;RY; BEP and RBF 1030.(My choice) Wonderful. Thank you. We are down in descending order on ENB;CSH;BCE and MFC.

Overweight in Utilities and Financials but okay with that.

Would you add to the latter group? Add any new ones.

I am down 43% in SU; down 23% in CPD; down 16% in IPL and 6% in POW. Would you add to the winners? Add to the temporary losers or ADD new ones. After today, am tempted to add to SU for sure. Wanting to increase foreign exposure and wondering if now would still be a good time to enter any of these names. Since China appears to have Covid more under control is this a good place to invest especially in consumer discretionary. If entering these names does one wait for pullback or enter now. As well, is it better to go with a mutual fund as opposed to ETFs for international/emerging market exposure?

Q: In Peter's article I saw in the FP or a newspaper somewhere, he mentions perhaps looking at the energy sector.

What are some top Energy names to play a economic upturn, and/or contrarian, beaten up strategy?

Q: Understanding that time in the market , not timing the market is best approach to long-term gains. And that one should never try to "wait for, or guess, the bottom" to pick up solid stocks, humour me with this scenario -> COVID-19 is gone tomorrow! Albeit with somewhat new reality. But it's effectively off the table as a criteria or condition for stock selection. What are your top 3 industries, and individual names in each industry you'd be rushing out to buy? Q: Retired dividend-income investor. I am a little light in the Consumer sector. I already own PBH, NWC and PLC with "full" positions relative to their individual risk level, as well as consumer stocks held within various ETFs (ZLB, CDZ, ZWC). I save a full 5% position for blue-chip stocks, like RY, FTS, BCE.

I started looking into the above stocks (AW, CTC, LNF, MG, PRMW, QSR), but filtered it down to a choice of LNF vs PRMW, using both fundamentals and technicals as well as considering my current holdings.

Q#1 = Based on PBH, NWC and PLC being long term holds, do you agree that 2 food companies are enough => I should select a non-food consumer, right?

Q#2 = If I had to choose between LNF and PRMW today, I am leaning towards LNF (better P/B, P/CF, P/S, ROE...better dividend too). So, in my opinion, I think it shows better value. Do you agree? Which shows better upside (I only see 1 analyst on LNF with a target of $17.00)?

Q#3 = Are there other Consumer stocks I should consider? Or, in your opinion, are any of the 5 stocks mentioned above deserve consideration?

Bottom line = where would you put your money?

Q: It appears that SJ has been buying back shares in Sept and Oct. Is this normal or usual for SJ? Obviously when a company does this they think the stock is undervalued and it's best use of capital.

I hold SMU (up 100%) and NWH (up 40%). COLD, however, has come up as recommended from a few places I get my ideas from and I'm considering initiating a position in it. To free up some funds I need to dump either SU or NWH and am curious which one you would exit and why? I'm more interested in capital growth than dividend and generally hold mid-long term.

I have three DOGS in my non registered account ...... Baylin Technologies (BYL) with No Dividend, Cipher Pharma (CPH) with No Dividend and Pason Systems (PSI) that has a 3.5% Dividend.
Please analyze each account for future growth prospects, survivability etc.
My strategy is to double-down and buy more of each stock in my wife's non registered account during tax loss season because her income is very low ......... then wait 30 days and sell the above stocks after 30 days in my registered account either this year or next year.
