Q: If DRM the top parent company of DIR.UN, DRA.UN, D.UN does DRM get income from dividends from actually holding some shares in those other dream publicly listed companies? If that is the case can you tell me roughly how much the parent company holds of each please? Thanks

Q: Thank you for your great service. I'm a young retiree. I need 5% after tax revenue for living expenses. My portfolio consist of 10% cash/equivalent, 2% Prefered (CPD) 15% high dividend stocks, and 65% other well diversified long stock positions of which half also pay dividend in the 2-3% range. Considering that my REITs represent 8% would you consider a good opportunity to add to my REITs since interest rates are going to stay low for the foreseeable future and hence high dividend and distribution stocks should do well in this environment. If so which of the above mentioned would you add to or if you have a better suggestion please do so. As for tax implication I own all my REATs in either TSFA or my RRSP. On a side note I also own Real Estate for approximately 30% of my net in addition to the stock portfolio.

Thanks for your great advise.

Q: I hold HR.UN, SMU.UN and CAR.UN. Looking to increase my REIT exposure. Do you have a suggestion of either increasing current holdings and/or adding one or two others. I hold approximately the same amounts in each name.

Q: Peter; I own both and so watch them closely. It seems that they are basically trading in lock step re volume and price appreciation. Are there any interlocking directors and/or management connections that you know of. Would a combined entity be a possibility? Thanks. Rod

Q: Hi Peter and Staff
My question is about industrial REITS- I have been slow to replace Pure Industrial - most of your recommendations have been Dir.un.
I bought that last week after you had given a slight preference to Summitt over it - yesterday you were asked to recommend one and you picked WPT - what’s up?

Thanks for all you do
Dennis

Q: I am looking to add an industrial REIT (either SMU.UN, WIR.UN, or DIR.UN) to an RESP for a 5-8 year hold. Funds are not needed for another 8 years. Which of the 3 REITS listed would you recommend purchasing and why do you prefer it over the other 2?

Q: Could you give me your take on its latest acquisition. It is partially funding this through new stock issuance, and the market has reacted to that. What I would like to know is whether this is a better reit at this price than it was yesterday before the deal at its previous price.

Q: I have the above Reits which I would like to consolidate into much smaller number. Appreciate your opinion on your preference of which ones I should keep/switch to, based on expectation of total return over 3-5 years period.
Thanks

Q: I have some money to deploy, and would like to concentrate on dividend paying stocks above. Do you think at the current price points I can buy in or would it be wise to wait for any to come down a bit? I am looking to create some dividend income.
Thanks

Q: Would you be able to rate the above in order of preference based on overall appreciation/performance over next 2-3yrs - also confirm whether you would be a buyer of any or all of them at this point in time and finally what exposure does each have to the Alberta economy.

Q: In an effort to replicate a REIT ETF I hold the following REITs
which in total compromise 12 percent of my portfolio.
BPY/DIR/HR/NVU/SIA.
I am thinking of adding CHP which would increase the percentage held to 13 percent. Do you think that this would provide reasonable exposure to the various segments within the REIT sector or would you suggest something else.
Thank you for considering my question.

Q: You have mentioned Dream's western Canadian exposure in other answers. This is purely anecdotal but I notice in Calgary that I have a lot of vacant space. Therefore I would prefer to own another industrial REIT. Recommendations please. Thanks always for your great service.

Q: Can you comment on wir.u third quarter results. To me they look positive, but the stock is back down around a 52 week low.
Would you add to a position? Or is there another industrial REIT you prefer?

Q: Can you please clarify your answer to Francis' question on a potential choice of an industrial REIT in Vancouver. Your answer alludes to Pure Multi Family REIT which is not industrial. Joe
