Q: Good Morning,
I currently own both of the companies listed and I am considering selling one to free up some cash. Of the two, which one do you believe will have the best upside potential in the next 12-18 months?

Q: Hi,
Unfortunately I bought some of these energy stocks back in 2014 and I am down +30% on all of these. I have just over a 5% weight currently in energy (not including ALA, ENB and TRP which I've included as part of utilities). Which do you think I should continue to hold and which ones should I just throw in the towel and sell?? I am a long term growth investor.

Q: Good morning

Thinking about the possible divestitures that POT will likely make to get approval of the merger. Are assets in situations like this typically sold before or after the merger?

If the assets are sold after the merger and at a premium to book value, it would seem the premium would be shared among shareholders of both companies even though the premium was not anticipated at the time the company values were set for the merger.

It would make more sense to me to sell prior to the merger and distribute the premium over book to the POT shareholders. Of course, if the premium is insignificant then it is a moot point.

Anyway, just curious to hear your thoughts.

Q: The July 15th edition of the Financial Post carries an article with the headline "Worst drought in decades devastates Europe's Crops" with the article focusing on a wheat-farmer in the Tuscany region (province?) of Italy. After doing a quick check online it seems that drought is somewhat dispersed throughout regions in Europe.

Would this European drought be significant enough to impact global grain supply and prices?

Would this be time to consider purchasing POT?

Q: I have been holding onto POT for several years. I am down about 50%, and this position has turned into a very small holding (about 0.5%), as my portfolio has grown significantly since I took the position many years ago. I was holding it up until now because it paid a decent dividend, and I held out hope that the company would rebound, but now with the dividend cut, the only hope that I have for the stock is that it might improve after the merger with AGU. If I sell, I would likely use it to increase my holdings in CSH.UN and GUD. Should I hold on, or just cut my losses?

Q: I got into these two at inopportune times and am down nearly 30% on each. Is it worth hanging on to Potash until the merger with Agrium is complete? For DH, is it worth waiting to see if a bid materializes? Or, is it just time to move on?

Q: Hello, 5i team! Thinking about additional investment in material sector + dividend part. Already own about 500 shares of POT in RRSP, now thinking is it good time to add say 100 shares of AGU before merger? I consider potash as a reliable area of long-term investment but would be glad to think about the alternatives as well... Your comments are highly appreciated! Thank you!

Q: Greetings 5i, first off, thank you for this unique and valuable service. I'm looking to remove my two... shall we say laggards from the portfolio. Three questions;

For Potash, portfolio holds about 3.4%. Is there an upside to waiting short term until the Agrium deal closes? If replaced, I want something in the same sector. What is your top two dividend payers in this sector?

For Cenovus, portfolio holds about 2.4%, I would like to replace with either utility, consumer discretionary or healthcare. What are your top three, dividend paying suggestions.

And what is your top financial dividend payer?

Q: I appreciate that the key driver for Potash stock performance is pricing. Having said that, Potash owns ~ 1/3 of Sociedad Quimica Y Minera in Chile. In addition to potash, SQM produces lithium, described by some as the "gasoline of the future" for its use in making batteries. Does 5i feel SQM's lithium potential is under-represented in Potash's stock price, or is it insignificant in the total picture for the company?
