Q: I have a few questions around the model portfolio:

Around what amounts in $ terms do you assume an investor has to replicate a model portfolio.

Also can we pick a few from a model portfolio and not follow it a 100%

Q: Hi,

I have recently thrown in the towel on Goldcorp, and need to replace for gold exposure. I read this morning you have done the same and replaced with AEM. Can you offer some guidance as to why you selected AEM please. Dejardins recently downgraded to a hold with a target lower than yesterday's close, not that I put a lot of stalk in these reviews. Would you get into AEM here? Thanks!

Q: Capitulating :( (me) .... so expect the market to turn up very soon!

Nonetheless, I am now firmly in the "income camp" and have reviewed the 5i Income portfolio where I already hold all but ADW and IGM of your stocks but none of the ETFS (VCH, XHY, CVD,CPD, ZRE). With the exception of VCH they have all taken it on the chin in the last year - like so much else.

I am building a "sleep at night portfolio" and have set aside an appropriate cash reserve portion. The rest will stay in the market. With "sleep" well and make a few bucks top of mind, would you recommend any of the 4 ETF's or something else like ZWB, ZDV? Thanks for help with this project.

Q: EFN is starting to look very attractive. Why is it so beat up?
The management presentation references tangible leverage, which appears high but wondering if you could put it in context, I'm guessing as a financial this kind of leverage is more acceptable. They seem to be generating higher returns now but if thats just happening due to additional leverage its not really a value add. Do they have any oil and gas exposure? Chesapeake is referenced in the deck, not sure how that ties and how large that exposure would be.

Q: Growth stock 5i favourites are KXS, TNC, SIS and NFI which is on sale. Also oil stocks are on an uptrend. Rank on which order you would buy 5 these entities? Here are some of my under-performers which I am considering selling a couple of in order to help purchase buying your top rankings. List the three worst performers of the 6. In your response to David's question I interpret it that someone(s) sold 2 blocks of 500K shares at $6.60.

I suggest it was someone(s) buying at a low. Especially considering it is rising now. I do not know if they were Black Pool buys.

Could these be viable possibilities?

Q: Hello.
Thanks for quality answers to questions.

Would you please help by offering insight to dealing with investor psychology and behaviour; 50% gain in PHM only to now be in the red on this holding?
My current thinking does not make sense to me to hold at the top of a gain only to feel like getting out now that the stock price has declined to the point that it feels like a poor investment decision.
I have been drawn into more aggressive type investments being connected to this subscription (beyond normal style) so I believe I can benefit from your experience and comments about dealing with volatility of the nature in this question.

Q: Thoughts on CXR looking very attractively priced at the moment? They've got enough international exposure to their business that any action in the US to lower drug prices (which would likely take a new government and years to pass legislation) would not have a significant impact on CXR's business. Clinton's new video against Valeant and people panicking and selling CXR seem to be providing a great entry point.

Q: i have been reading that beacon lowered the price target to a $1 and also i read about medicare reimbursement cuts which can negatively impact PHM ? Do you think PHM is still worth holding or should it be sold? What are your thoughts on this company?

Q: Hello team,

My wife's TFSA currently holds full positions in WSP, BYD.UN, DH, WCP and 1/2 position in BDI. With new money, we are thinking of adding four half positions from SYZ, CXI, BOS, GUD, EFN or XTC. This is for long term hold and we are OK with volatility. Which four would you pick out of the list or would you suggest other names instead for better diversification? We are looking for smaller cap names with better growth potentials.

Q: Re Dennis question on CXR
Scotia itrade actually has CXR as a sector outperform with a target of $75 (see company Edge report). Dennis may be looking at something called Research Team report which is a separate service that Scotia includes on their site. They do have it as a sell but it is only 4 analysts, and their accuracy was poor in 2015 as note on the very bottom of the report. It is not the Scotiabank opinion.
I bought some CXR based on the 5 i - Ryan M blog at under forty and sold at $50 ( thanks Ryan!) Will try it again if the price dips below $40 again.

Q: In your Balanced Portfolio you have a holding in Goldcorp because you want to have a stake in gold for strategic reasons. Recently, in answering questions on investing in gold stocks, you have consistently referred to AEM as a better investment than G. Why are you not swapping G for AEM in your balanced Portfolio?
