Q: Hi team,
Just a point of confusion: TD Direct Investing treats CBO, XHY and the like as equities, while in your Portfolio Review these are treated as fixed income. Does this matter as long as one is consistent in their assignation of the sector / allocation? I think it does matter as it changes the perspective of the portfolio as a whole. I would like your opinion.
Thank you
Stanley Cohen

Q: Been holding GSY, have had a super run, thanks for the advice. I am however gettign concerned about an end to canadas debt binge

What are the risks to GSY from
1. Deflation of the housing bubble
2. BOC signalling and (potentially) raising rates

Would it cause more or less customers to need the type of financing GSY offers? will GSY yield spreads on financing increase/decrease?

Thanks

Kuldar

Q: As yet, I have not 're-balanced' my portfolio by selling some of Savaria. I still have a significant cash balance and don't really need to. Do you regard it as a sell to some degree, or should I stick with my doubling of this investment. I do have Suncor in my 'Balanced Equity Port.' Perhaps you had it at one time and I missed a sell on it? Should I keep this equity or sell it? One of the few equities I never purchased in my portfolio (it is difficult to buy in my US Schwab international acct). Seeing how it has retracted from highs, do you consider this a value purchase now?

Q: Peter and Team:

I hold a portfolio that follows your BEPORT with a few of my own thrown in.
I hold 1/2 weights of XTC and AEM, and was thinking of topping them up with some added cash that I have.
Would you be comfortable adding to these for long term hold at this time. In particular I am concerned about XTC with U.S. sentiments.

Thanks

Phil

Q: I am planning to own all stocks in growth, income and model portfolio excluding ETF.
I would allocated Growth = 1%, Income = 1.75% and Model = 2.25%
Do you think this is the good strategy and it will work going forward?
Total stocks = 59.

I set up dummy portfolio since Nov 2016 and it has the gain of 11%.

Currently, I own all stocks in Model portfolio with 3% waiting and it has gain 6%

My portfolio is over 500K

Thanks for the great service.

Q: 2 questions on GUD:
* Recent report states " GUD also invests in funds, which have substantial assets under management in the healthcare sector..." What type of funds, private equity or mutual, and how major is this part of their business?
* Your models have 3 and 6% positions in this name, my weight is 2.5% and I'm wondering what is a suitable number, though I would be comfortable up to 5%. I am retired and it is presently my only health care stock.
Thanks, J.
