Q: I have a full position in TOY and am starting to lose patience as I’m now down 24% in a year and don’t really see any positive momentum building given trade tensions and indications of an economic slowdown. I’m considering selling half or all to move into a more positive growth story as things stand today. As an example, I recently sold a half position in SIS and bought LSPD with very positive results. I would possibly buy more LSPD with the understanding growth=risk. Security and diversity are covered in other parts of our portfolio; these growthy stocks are in our TFSAs where growth is our only consideration. Given the objectives of our TFSA accounts can you make a case for keeping, selling half or all of TOY at this time.

Q: Over the last year I have been trying to follow some 5i stocks using your philosophy of buy and give it a chance as long as the fundamentals are there. I had a full posn (4%) in TSGI (one example) which is down by 54% now. Normally I would have sold as soon as there was indication of troubles or momentum went out of the stock. I think Ryan indicated he thinks the owners will figure it. Yet some of the responses I'm reading are not too sure. Can you firm it up a bit?

Thanks

Q: Interesting news from Shopify re: opening fulfillment centers in the U.S. ($1 Billion over 5 years). I see this as more directly competing with AMZN, whom I thought they were friendly with.

I own SHOP but I'm honestly not too sure how dependant they are on AMZN for their business. Here on 5i it's been mentioned that they have a serious relationship, but I've never seen it quantified...are you able to share how much of SHOPs business is from AMZN (based on revenue, EPS or other) and what specifically their partnership is?

With this news and within a year or two I'm guessing SHOP will either be dropped by AMZN or bought out.

Q: I got into this a short time ago (over a couple of years ago) around this level it bounced around a bit and ran up over $100. I considered selling or trimming but it didn't get to the % I had in mind. I held due to the increasing dividend and stock buy backs. With the benefit of hindsight it has got me wondering if this is a stock that is more of a trading stock or is it something that is suitable to hold for long period of time. My portfolio target is to achieve 7%+ rate of return over my life.
