Q: XTR pays a dividend of 6.99% currently. What is your opinion of a new retiree purchasing this ETF and holding it in a TFSA account? Would it be better to hold it in an RRSP or margin account? Is the 6.99% considered a dividend or income for tax purposes? Is the income reliable long term? Would CDZ be a better choice? Thank you for your excellent service!!!!

Investment Q&A
Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.
Q: Could you recommend other very stable high quality 5% plus dividend paying stocks (like BIP.UN which you have already commented on) which have sold off solely due to market fears. I already own BEP.UN which might fall into this category. Thanks.
Q: Hi, 5i
Regarding pbh, what are the biggest risks involved? How are its margins? Do you know their customers?(Starbucks? I think is one). The food business is "to my knowledge" highly competitive and margin sensitive, is pbh a good enough company to overcome its sector or do you think other stocks are better?
Thanks

Q: In view of recent turbulence and volatility, is there any change in your previously expressed opinions of SOX? Can the dividend be maintained?
Q: I parked money in PSA in order to get a 1% retune while I decide what to do with the cash. I notice on the Purpose Investment website the following disclaimer
"Fund securities are not covered by the Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation or by any other government deposit insurer"
Can you comment. I was under the impression that 100K is insured under CDIC
Thanks! Nice to have a go to service to ask these type of questions

Q: What would be your recommendations for investment vehicles (with low MER) to hold cash at this time?
Q: Hi,
Can you give me your thoughts on the price weakness? Bip.un has been a strong and consistent performer in my portfolio. Is it a good time / price to buy here? Do you expect anticipate good upside over the next 12-18 months / longer or is there reason to be more cautious/sell?
Thank you

Q: If holding so called high interest saving vehicles (like TDB8150) in an investment account are subject to bail in legislation, where could one hold cash to avoid bail ins? Depositors in banks are considered "investors" under current laws and subject to confiscation in bail ins, but would you be exempt if you held cash in an investment account. You earn zero interest if you hold cash in an investment account so it would be hard to say you are an investor with that cash.
Thanks
Thanks
Q: BIP.UN has give up all of the gains last year and is now trading at a 52 week low with a yield of over 6%. This looks like a great buying opportunity - do you agree? Thanks
Q: I'm looking to add a low(er) volatility utility name like FTS or CU. Which do you prefer? Or is this a 6 of one, half dozen of the other type question and they are both OK to buy?
Q: Hopefully, this question provides a simple answer. I have approx $100k in liquidity that I'd like to 'park' in whatever equity or REIT you feel is risk averse and would provide some dividend or interest income - bonds aside. I can leave the funds there for 2 to 4 years. At 66 years of age, I cannot afford to lose principal. I am not concerned with currency fluctuation.
Q: Can you provide an updated analysis and recommendation on Cogeco Cable (CCA)? I don't currently own it but would like to and noticed that its at a 52 week low. I've been a customer of cogeco for a very long time. Is the dividend safe? Is the business vulnerable to larger competitors like Rogers/Bell? Thanks again - John
Q: Your thoughts on Sandvines earnings report today & initiation of dividend. Love the service Thank you If asked, answered & posted already pls disregard.
Q: Hello,
For some of us who are crazy enough to invest in current markets, can you recommend few Canadian stocks that have:
1. High stability i.e. low Beta (ideally recession proof), but declined recently
2. Low P/E ratio
3. Dividend of at least 3%
Basically, I am looking for something like Fortis, though it didn't decline much...

Q: Would appreciate your current outlook for Keyera.
Q: It is interesting that AQN and VNR have maintained their share prices in this downturn.Would this suggest that these companies could be purchased as part of a defensive income position at this time. thanks. Joe
Q: Is it a good time to add to utility names such as enbridge, trap, ipl, ppl. 5 year + time horizon? What is your recommended sector allocation for the averae investor ? Thank you.

Q: Hi there,
Would a vehicle like TDB8150, a place to park cash in an investment account, be subject to bail-in confiscation, similar to bail-in of bank deposits. Thank you.
