Q: Hi 5i Team

I’m using the 5i model portfolios for the 35% portion of my overall portfolio allocated to Canadian Equites. I’ve been investing in companies from both, the balanced and income portfolios, mostly because I’m having a hard time choosing which model portfolio is right for me. I like the dividends and income provided by one but also like the growth potential the balanced portfolio provides. I’m 50 years old and plan to retire in the next 3-5 years and would like to know if there is any criteria or guidance on what model portfolio to choose?

Q: I have a small position in Fts and am looking at switching to Npi. Could you please check the debt ratios for each,growth prospects and payout ratios for the dividend? Would you recommend this move for a 2 to 3 year hold in a tfsa? Thanx.

Q: Not sure what is happening but my last 2 questions have been marked private although this was not my intention. The first time (BUS question) I don’t think I hit the private button but the last question (BLN&RHT) I definitely didn’t choose private. Can you make this last question public (I have 2 friends who are also 5i members who want to see the response). Also have you any thoughts as to what is happening with my questions - composed on an ipad air and this didn’t happen on the old site. (It’s possibly a coincidence or clumsy fingers but I’d appreciate you looking into this). Btw, this is definitely sent as a public question for test purposes. Thanks

Q: I would like to spend a credit to ask you to expand on your Nortel reference in an answer to a question asked on Feb 22nd. You said Nortel was a 'revenue scam'. Being a former Nortel employee & investor, with many under water shares, I am always interested in hearing & learning aspects as to why Nortel is no longer. So my question is what did you mean when you wrote Nortel was a 'revenue scam' for lack of a better phrase. Thanks … Cal

Q: Hi Peter: What is your view on Alaris Royalty as it is being traded near its 52w low, with a P/B of 1.2 and a dividend of 8.3% . Should I take a position on this one with a focus on income, and a moderate growth. I'm 62 and in the process of building up a good income stream for retirement. Thank you as always.

Q: Hi there, I am a balanced equity investor with a tilt towards growth and have about a 20 - 30 year outlook. I currently own all Canadian equities in my portfolio and am thinking to add a 15% position in the broader market. For a balanced, growthy investor, which ETF listed on the TSX would be best?
