Q: I have a long held but small position in Sprott Canadian Equity, Energy and Precious Metals . What would you recommend as replacements for these three ? I am looking for growth . Thanx Robbie
Further to my question about AltaGas Thursday morning, is it fair to say ALA is being unfairly punished? The yield is at 9 %, forward estimates suggest growth and profitability etc. What is your take? Time to get greedy with this one?
Q: If their first drug, plasminogen gets approval along with a pediatric voucher where do you see the share price. Is it odd that the share price presently is abysmal dropping 30% in a month with the decision due by the FDA no later than mid April. Lastly would you expect a lot of institutional buying for a good run after approval as the risk of the company being viable will be alleviated.
Q: I hold Newalts common shares. Newalta and Tervita merger is announced. Could you explain the net benefit of the plan of arrangement stated in the news. What is the net value to Newalta share holders for each common share..

Q: The EPS of Altagas for 3/18 is shown on your "companies" chart at .38, whereas you had stated to Jason on Mar 1 re his question on ALA results that the EPS was in line at .36, wouldn't that be a miss? The EPS for ALA for the next quarter (6/18) is shown as .14, why the big drop, is the falling cdn$ and rising interest rates going to cause any problem for ALA carriage of debt?
Q: Hi 5i,
I have a pretty balanced RRSP with these stocks and FUND. I am only up with the FUND and BEP.UN. I have about $10, 000 to add to the mix. Should I buy in to any of the losing stocks, add a new one or wait and see . Possibly ranking the "losers" might help me.
Many thanks. I enjoy the Q & A daily.
Great coverage.
Cheers
Paul
Q: Hi,
I would like to own amazon. Do you think it will be negatively affected by nafta / potential trade issues? With the volatility in the markets I am thinking about putting in a stink bid before going away on holiday for a couple weeks. I have enough enough money for 4 shares. I was thinking about a bid for 2 shares at around $1350 and a second bid around $1200. Does this sound reasonable? different numbers? Bad idea?
Thanks
Kerri
Q: Good afternoon..Other than the market is there any news to cause Home Depot to be declining as it is.? It was doing very well.
Much thanks and thank you for helping up keep an even keel.
Q: With President Trump wanting tariffs on Steel & Aluminum this will increase cost of goods in the USA much like tariffs on Lumber increases the cost of building housing in the USA. Would this lead to a lower US Dollar and benefit he price of Gold ? What golds do you recommend ? RAK
Q: Hey 5i,
My question is about what kind of upside remains in CRH after its bounce off the bottom? Any idea of a target price and is it even possible to reach the high prices of the past?
That said AltaGas has tanked and am wondering if I am better served selling CRH and getting some ALA. do you think there is big upside there? And they are going to more utility then pipeline after the acquisition? Thanks
Q: In the Globe and Mail online today David Berman wrote an article about BEI with the following title, "Despite a big rally this week, investors should avoid this REIT". What is your take on this view?
Q: TD allows you to have a TFSA in both Canadian and US dollars. If I hold a Canadian company that trades in the United States in the US TFSA is there a withholding tax on the dividend? Would it make a difference if the Canadian company pays the dividend in Canadian or US dollars. For example, Royal Bank pays in Canadian dollars but trades in New York and Bep.un also trades in New York but pays its dividend in US dollars.also, would you recommend holding Canadian companies in a US TFSA or should one strickly hold American companies.
Thank you.
