Q: Hi, how would you classify ONEX and what sector would you allocate it to? It says industrial on the TMX site, does that make sense or is it more financial? Or would you classify your holdings in PE stocks such as ONEX and KKR as a totally separate sector such as Alternative or Private Equity?? Thanks!

Q: I feel I am over exposed in the Canadian Financial sector with TD and BNS making up 9% and 11% of my portfolio respectively. I also hold 20% VRGO. I wish to sell one bank and increase some of my US equity positions such as MA, V, CRM, MSFT, AMZN for more growth and capital gains. Long term outlook is 5+ years. Does this plan sound reasonable in regards to timing and outlook, and which bank would you prefer to hold?

Q: Further to my recent question about crystallizing gains to apply against capital losses, how would you implement this ? There will be 5 stocks that I will sell but will re-buy after 30 days, i.e. syz, engh, kxs, wsp, cjt.
In this market,
1) what strategy would you use for selling in terms of timing ,
2) would you temporarily replace with something else and if so, what would that be, and
3) would you do all 5 or just one at a time ?
Thanks again.

Q: Investing in companies that are directly involved in the climate change space seems to be a big investment growth theme and that may explain the good performance of these stocks over the last while. New Flyer is included because of their electric bus component. Successful companies ought to see growing valuations.

Q: Hi 5I,
I need some clarification on your view of Syz. On Jan 29 a question from Rod on Syz top up yielded a "hold" response, and same type of question asked by Pierre on Jan 28 yielded a cryptic "fine" response. I too am looking at adding to my position (within target %) and came across an article in today's Globe stating CEO bought over $300k of shares in January. It would be great if your answer could delve into the potential of adding too/holding this company for 5+ years.
Thanks,
Chris M.

Q: Hi, you favored ECN over EFN recenlty. Just curios as to why and can you outline any major differences other than size. EFN has a potential tie to Amazon as well?
Q: Have a small position in UTX(US). The company has declared a spin-off of Otis and Carrier which ( I assume??) will leave me with shares in three companies as opposed to one company. I tend to not like small positions as it is now three times more work to moniter. What would you do? Sell UTX now or just accept that I now have two additional companies to watch? Thanks Ron
