Q: I would like to add to one or two of the above stocks with my gains from Shopify. In a well diversified portfolio I am looking for dividend income with some growth. I hold all of the above just slightly less than a 2% allocation in the portfolio.

Q: The question of what to do when one is worried about the possibility of a sharp market correction often arises. In the past you have proposed increasing the portfolio allocation to cash. As a complement to that strategy, what about tilting the portfolio more toward low beta (less than 0.5, say) stocks? I’m thinking of stocks like L, ECI, CSH.UN, KBL, SJ, SLF. How much protection - qualitatively speaking -do you think that would provide against the possibility of a sharp correction of, say, 10-15%?

Q: Tourmaline has been in a bit of a freefall lately. Should i consider tax loss selling the stock? What companies should i consider in the switch? I have a very low % of oil and gas stocks in my portfolio no counting enbridge and transcanada.

Also a firm expressed that DAP-U is good value selling at a reasonable price; do you agree?

Q: Hello Team,

I have a regular CDN TFSA, with $43,000 invested, and i have a portion of cash allotted to a USD TFSA with $15000 invested. Between the two i need to generate safely with minimal risk $300 dollars per month? Can you suggest some income producing strategies that could help me obtain my goal? please include some equities.

Are the US and the CDN TFSA'S treated the same for tax purposes, when withdrawing investment income? charge me as a two part question!

Q: Hi,
For some reason on the 5i site and on Globe Investor, I can't find the ISHARES MSCI EAFE VAL IND ETF (EFV). It trades on the US BATS exchange. I hold it in my TD Waterhouse account and I can find it on Google Finance. Is there something unusual about a BATS listing, as in, not all companies carry BATS holdings? Should I be selling EFV and replacing it with something more mainstream?
