Q: What is your take on the very short news story today about FM withdrawing its arbitration against the gov’t of Panama? Does this point to optimism for a favourable settlement, or is it more of capitulation to negative prospects for recovering anything much for its loss? Does it still have any other arbitrations for its claims? Thanks

Q: I heard something very interesting a few days ago. A study found that the average holding period for stocks by individual investors is now about 6 months. Back in the 1960's or 1950's, it was 6 YEARS. Obviously, there is a lot more information out there now, easier access to it, and much cheaper trading. Wondering what you think of this development, and how it is impacting (a) individuals' investing performances, and (b) the overall market. I think it is making the market a lot more volatile. Studies I have read over the years tend to indicate people who trade less frequently do better than frequent traders, on average, so on the surface, one would think the shorter holding periods today might be hurting individuals' investing performances.

Q: Hi I know MSTR has had an extremely bumpy ride. What do you think of their recently issued preferred shares? Is there enough information to estimate what the actual dividend and % at today’s prices will be. RBC DI shows 132%. Also would you consider the yield to be “reasonably” safe? Thank you.

I hold 13% covered call ETFs in a portfolio of diversified blue chip dividend payers, regular ETFs and some growth holdings, 56 holdings in all. These covered call ETFs include HMAX, UMAX, SMAX, QMAX, ZWH, HHLE, HDIV, HYLD AND NXF-B. I am 79 and looking for income. I believe the upside restrictions of the covered call ETFs is made up for by the advance in the other holdings. . MER on the total portfolio according to Portfolio Summary is 0.11%. I am also admonished for holding over 10 ETFs. Should I change this strategy though I like the $1,300 to $1,800 a month bump up or just keep collecting? Please take as many credits as necessary.

Q: Hi there, follow up to your answers today on WELL, how much cash is WELL dishing out for AIDX then? How is this being funded by WELL, and therefore affecting WELL's cash/debt position?

Regarding AIDX then, is the current $1.50 share price representing a fair price?
