Q: Hi Team,

At present, I hold no discretionary stocks in my portfolio, and I am considering the ones listed above.

Could you please outline the key pros and cons of investing in each of them from a strong growth perspective? In your view, which have the best potential over the next 3 to 5 years?

Q: Hi, after holding CVE for awhile and being under water, I'm finally nearly breaking even. After the new MEG deal, I wonder what people might think about selling it to get into other 'growthier' stocks long-term (like SHOP, LMN, PRL, for example, but open to other ideas as well).

Q: I noticed you prefer KSX over DSG recently, and I’m wondering why. Or is GSY the better choice of the three? I have held all three for a few years and due to timing issues I have a much higher gain on DSG and GSY. I know past performance does not guarantee future results, but can’t get over my negative bias towards KSX. Also I have too many different stocks and know I should concentrate more. (I.e. 20 vs 30+)

Q: I have held BNS in my cash account for several years and the stock has been essentially flat. I am looking to replace it with HCAL. There would be minimal capital gains tax and they have essentially the same yield. HCAL has 1.25 leverage to the big Cdn banks. Thinking of the tendency of individual banks reverting to the mean , am I selling BNS at the wrong time as it does seem to be participating in the industry’s strength of late. What do you think of this move ?

Q: I'm looking for an industrial US or global ETF in USD. I searched and discovered the aforementioned ETFs, which include defense ETFs. Which one or two ETFs would you recommend for diversification, and why? What proportion of my portfolio should consist of defense/industrial ETFs?

Q: My tech component of my portfolio is 43% and want to rebalance my portfolio so tech is about 33%. In tech CSU is 33% NVDA 20% Shop 15% Rest are about 6% to 8%. Is there 1 or 2 I should sell due to overlap? What should I do?
Also is there an argument that shopify fits into the consumer discretionary space?
Also am I missing a tech name?

Q: Hello 5i team; I have recently retired and switching my portfolio to income. I have serious overweight to Canadian dividend payers, ENB,NTR, BNS,ZWU etc. for preferential tax treatment.Is this okay? Risky? Should US be growth to avoid withholding tax.Own VGG, suggestions? Tia Mike

Q: Can I get your opinion on BAT…I’ve held it for many years…mainly for the fat dividends paid in US dollars…sort of like a bond proxy. But this year the share price has risen sharply and considering it’s in the tobacco industry, I’m not sure what to make of it…my plan is to hold it for the long haul but I’m awfully tempted to take some profits.
