Q: TD has forecast a 60% dividend cut. This seems a little draconian. Would you agree that there will be a near term dividend cut? And would you agree about the percentage of the cut?

Q: Hi 5i
I sold the above for a tax loss. 6 of the 8 are down since with FTS and ECN slightly up.
The 30 day period is almost up. How many of these would you consider buying back in the hopes that their share price will increase. I have a longer time horizon.
Thanks
Jeff

Q: I currently hold a position in Maxim Integrated. Based on recent performance I am thinking of switching my position with Xilinx. Xilinx has also outperformed my position in the BOTZ ETF. Do you think Xilinx is a strong buy ?

Q: Earnings 52 Week Low
Yield (%) Price % Diff
Badger Daylighting 6.7 22.37 15.90
CCL Industries 5.3 52.01 5.59
Methanex 8.7 62.30 28.27
I'm looking at buying one of the above companies. Based on today's stock price, I am torn between what is a more useful metric, Earning's Yield (MX) or 52 week low (CCL.B) or a combo approach (BAD) for an entry point. In your view which metric is more relevant for a 5 year investment horizon?

Q: Can you please comment on IIP's recent quarter? Also, in a previous answer, you mentioned that the Company's debt was increasing, but debt to GBV is 43.5% in the most recent quarter which seems reasonable. Do you agree?
Thanks,
Jason

Q: Which one of these two would you buy today for growth with a one year time frame. Thanks
Q: Would it be the right time to drop CLS and what would you replace it with ?
Q: Hi 5i,
FTG has had 2 good quarterly releases in a row now. Your last reply to a question re FTG (Oct 9) was just before they released Q3 numbers (Oct 10) (normally a quiet quarter).
Is there anything in their Q3 results to get excited about?
It looks like their transition activities for their last acquisition(s) is finally starting to contribute nicely.
Given the caveat that it is small cap, should one continue to watch this company (in this volatile market) or could one step in for a 1/3 position over the next 30-60 days (considering tax loss seasonality) given the lows of the stock price (down 38% YTD)?
There didn't seem to be much market reaction to the Q3 numbers but that could have been due to the market volatility ....or it simply went unnoticed.
Cheers,
Steve

Q: Good morning,
I sold the above in early October to capture tax loss, and can rebuy next week. Are there any among these 4 that you would pass on for now.?
Thanks for the hand holding.

Q: I purchased ECN.PR.C at $25 because it paid 6.25% and, as a rate reset in a rising interest rate environment, with a guaranteed 6.25% minimum(!), it sounded great.
It has gone down from day one and has little interest. Should I pick up a few more shares at $21 with a juicier dividend or let it go and look elsewhere? If it doesn't go up with increased rates, when will it?
Thanks.

Q: Which of the 3 life insurance companies, GWO, SLF, MFC are the best to own for dividends and growth over the next 5-10 years and why?
Q: Hi, in the past I have always invested near 100% in equities. But now I am a little fearful of the market, have sold some equities and wish to move money to a good interest paying parking spot. Time horizon - 1-6 months. My investments are self directed with TD Waterhouse. Can you suggest a fund?
Q: Would Cummins be a growth stock at this stage? The stock seems to trade at a low P/E and should have potential? Your opinion is appreciated!
Thank you!
Thank you!
Q: Which one of theses two for a long term hold and why?
Thanks

Q: I have some spare cash. Risk taker. In light of the recent pullback, would you suggest some growth securities preferably outside of Canada and USA for TFSA? The latter has to do with issues with US estate taxes for holding individual US stocks in personal accounts. ZQQ would be OK as it is Canadian domiciled but invested in USA situs property. Thanks.
Q: Can you give me the lowdown on Toy I am under water and need your thoughts also when do they report. Thanks
Q: 12 years of Tse pain
On Oct 31/07 the Tse closed at 14,625, Cnd dollar was at par to U.S and Wti was $94.51 Dow Jones was 13,930 and 10 yr treasuries were 4.47%
I realize that Tse was strong in resources and weak in Tech ,however there must have been a huge flow of funds to foreign markets
In 2007 was there a restriction on foreign content in RRSPs and did Etfs exist at that time?
Do you think that Tse will soon have its place in the sun as U.S. investors can now buy at a 30% discount?
Is Dec 27 the last day for tax loss selling?
Thank you
