Q: THe weekend edition of the Wall Street Journal reported that US oil producers have issued 2017 budgets that call for dramatically greater spending to tap new wells. Can you suggest some Canadian companies, small mid or large cap that may experience a direct material benefit?

Q: Hello,

Looks like Brookfield Properties would like to take out the approximately 16% of the company it doesn't already own.The stock is trading above the $30.10 being offered for the shares/. There are rumours that there is a large shareholder of the remaining interest that is holding out for $33 or higher, do you know anything about this? Is there somewhere where one can go to find out more?

Q: Hi 5i,
My partner and I are 60 yrs. old, both newly retired with no pensions. 50% of our portfolio is in banks (one in the US), the rest in renewables and the occasional tech stock.
We are thinking with Mr. Trump now in office, we should probably look at gold. Presently we have no gold, even though I see comments that 4-6% of your portfolio should be in gold. What would you suggest for us? Stocks, bullion? If stocks, which ones and percentage of each would be valuable.

Q: I am considering transferring my assets in CPG to WCP. Both have an equal weight in my portfolio. It seems that CPG has not performed as well as WCP during the upturn in oil prices. Both have cut their dividend substantially but I believe that WCP has more upside in terms of growth and dividend increases. What is your opinion? Thanks

Q: I have a disproportionately large position in Apple. Now that it has recovered to the $120 level, I'm considering selling a portion of it to bring it back to a more reasonable percentage of my portfolio. Can you give me your view on this stock, and provide your insight into the influence all their cash will have on the stock price if corporate income taxes are reduced
