Q: I see PEY is down 5% this morning and I am looking for your opinion on it as a long term hold. I have a full position in PEY (showing a big loss) and was expecting to see it bounce back somewhat in the New Year with tax loss selling off the table. I have always confidently felt PEY was a best in class NG producer with low production costs and strong management. Is it being taken to the woodshed strictly based on investors hating the sector or is there something specific about PEY making investors nervous? Am I wrong to be losing confidence in this investment?

Q: After being a laggard for most of 2016 &2017, Sylogist shares finally picked some momentum after release of last quarterly results in December, probably due to renewed optimism about company's outlook for 2018 and beyond. However, market interest seems to be fading out as reflected in share price falling back to $9.50-9.75 level (below where it started last year). I do understand that no analyst covers the co. and stock has low liquidity. Over past 4-5 years, since we started investing in the company, it has produced decent returns for us including respectable dividend growth each year, but I am wondering if it's time to lighten up (6-7% of portfolio) and deploy funds elsewhere. Unless, of course, if there is a compelling reason/potential to hold. Thanks

Q: Don't know if you think this material enough to print but on the purchase of Westinghouse, the Wall Street Journal, quoting insiders, says BBU is not interested in building nuclear power plants (which was what got Westinghouse in trouble). However, Westinghouse has a steady, ongoing and very profitable business in maintenance and parts supplies to nuclear power plant owners. Q: I'm trying to understand the connection between the ratio of the US$ to Japenese Yen and the gold price. Can you help?

Q: Can you recommend a natural gas producer. Prefer in Canada and does not utilize fracking to extract the gas due to the negative views and risk of laws coming in to prevent it. As well a company that refines the natural gas and another that transports it. The best in each sector unless one does all three.

Q: Charts show Enghouse's trend line becoming parabolic . As happy ( finally ) as I am about this , is it best to exit here ( small position ) , or do you see ENGH continuing upward ?
If you recommend selling , do you recommend my adding these funds to KXS, CSU, SHOP, DSG , other ( which ? ) ... or is the whole sector becoming vulnerable ? Thanks for your help.

Q: I plan to shuffle my RRSP to include your Balanced Equity Portfolio and the three ETFs above. Would you recommend any exposure to bonds through a fourth ETF?

Our granddaughter is 18 months old. Currently her RESP consists of 64% WN.PR.C and 33% XDIV. I was considering adding XDUH, the hedged version of the above fund, for both growth and income, with this year's total contribution. For direct growth, would it be wise to split this year's contribution between XDUH and SIS, given that all of these investments I make on her behalf are extremely long term holds.

I was wondering what is the difference between the 2 above bond indexes? Do they both track CAN government bonds but are simply from 2 different institutions.

Q: I am looking to add a AI Stock and an ETF to my portfolio.
What Stock and what ETF would your recommendation be for a long term hold that is focused on AI?

Q: At present my TFSA is composed of MAW120/MAW150 at a 60/40 split.
I can keep this and add 1 stock this year. If that is the case which growth stock would you recommend?
Or should I sell and buy a 5 growth stock portfolio? What 5 stocks would you recommend?
The reason for the MAW funds in the first place was to increase my international exposure since I was mostly in canadian funds overall. I have now rebalanced my portfolios and have my international exposure needs met elsewhere.
As always your help is greatly appreciated.

Q: Hi team,
I used to own MU about 10 years ago but never made any money on it. The stock was stuck in the doldrums for years. Back then it seems they had no pricing power, semiconductors were just a commodity and there were not as many uses for the product. Now there seems to be many more potential uses in future automotive design, the internet of things, artificial intelligence and many others. I missed the big run for MU the last 2 years or so (can’t be everywhere in the market). I am also following AMAT which also had a big run. What are the prospects of these two going forward in 2018 and would you buy either one today? Is there better pricing power in the industry or is it just sales volumes with the many new uses that is driving the huge price gains? Am I too late to the party?

I have some technology stocks (no semiconductors) but I am not too concerned with sectors or weightings at this time as I tend to let things run a bit until I cut back (or the market does it for me).
