Investment Q&A

Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.

Q: Not so much a question but rather a statement. I know you mentioned before that you didn't think your subscription was big enough to considerably impact share price following buy/sell advice. But I would think that yesterdays share price movement for DBO following their removal from coverage was possibly due to a mass exodus by subscribers. It dropped 10% (52 week low) first thing in the morning and bounced back 12% today. For the super small caps it may sometimes be better for us subscribers to wait out the panic selling the next morning. Thanks!

Q: I know you commented on DBO on Monday, but the share price has dropped another 10% since then. The share price has been dropping for almost a year now. I was considering giving it another quarter but I feel mgmt is taking the company in the wrong direction with the talk about moving into the Motion Industrial training market, which is very niche. That and the numbers continue to disappoint every quarter. Is it time to let DBO go? Earnings are mid June.

Q: Hi, this company had a rough third quarter and it's share price has since consolidated to what seems to me like a reasonable level. Given it's future potential for VR , it's new and unique home theater product/content offering due to launch soon, one could see some upside potential in this stock. Considering it is not a profitable company and the stock is in a downtrend, you recommend starting a position , or wait after earning release in June ? Thanks !

Q: Hi Team, I echo the others to say thanks re: TNC, I have doubled my investment. I will replace with 2 different holdings and would like something of the same risk dynamic. In my small/cap higher risk category, I own PHO and a half position of DBO (down 35%). I also own PLI and LTE. I am up on everything except DBO. You have suggested ITC, which I don't yet own yet, is there another holding that you could suggest that would fit the description of a good quality company with growth potential, although higher risk? Should I add the other half position of DBO? Thanks as always.

Q: It is time to invest new TFSA money. I wonder if you could rank these six small cap companies for potential growth?
DXD, DBO, IRD, ITC, PEO and TNC.

Thank you

Q: I have the listed companies in my TFSA($60k). I haven't been too concerned with portfolio weightings due to the portfolio size and have let the winners run. As a result close to 50% of the portfolio is held in just 2 stocks (CCL.B and CRH) I have nice gains in the others except DBOX and SYLOGIST which are both flat and I have considered switching out. Two questions I have are 1. Do you think it is a prudent strategy to stay this course or would you rebalance keeping in mind these weightings are not that out of whack when you consider my other portfolios? 2. What name(s) would you consider adding to this mix for my 2017 contribution of $5500.

Thank you and Merry Christmas to the entire 5i staff for your outstanding service.

Q: I am considering moving some or all of these from a cash account to a TFSA. Would you agree with this move and if so is there a particular order or any that you would leave out. Thanx Robbie
