Q: Hello Peter and Team,

Doing a portfolio review for my 30 year old son. He has a Defined-Benefit pension so doesn't need any fixed income. With only growth in mind and a 20 plus year timeframe, roughly what allocation would you do for:

Canada/USA/Europe/Emerging Markets/Any Other?

Q: Sandvine stock price dropped on report of a patent troll filing against the company. How successful are these troll companies, I am thinking this drop is a buying opportunity but is the street worried about expensive legal costs to fight this patent infringement.

Q: Good morning Peter and Team,

In my RRIF, I have a half position in BCE and a half position in T. BCE has done better for me than T, althogh both are up. Going forward, should I keep it as is, or sell T to get a full position in BCE? I ask this because of the headwinds T might encounter due to their Alberta exposure. Thanks.

Q: Your report on Savaria mentions that only 9% of the revenue for the Accessibility segment comes from outside North America. Does the company have plans to generate more revenue growth outside North America and have they indicated what that potential growth is?

Q: Wells Fargo put out a sell rating on Valeant Pharma today. Do you have access to the report or any thoughts on its contents? What Pharma stock would you recommend as a replacement for Valeant in my portfolio? Currently I have a half position of Concordia in my portfolio.

In trying to follow the model portfolio moves, I am looking to add PKI. The one wart that I see is that, in your last report, it showed a payout ratio above 100%. Do you still see this and are you concerned about it>?

Q: F-Score or Piotroski Score: Could you give me the 5iR evaluation on this stock screen, validate its performance over the long run and provide the results of this screen for the Canadian and US market. I understand that it uses easy to find information on company regrouped under three factors such as profitability, operating margins and leverage. It would appear that Glacier Media has the highest F-Score for a Canadian company. Could you confirm and give me the results of your calculations.

Q: Hi Peter and Ryan,

POE's $0.40 special distribution has left me a little confused as to when we should expect payment. I've included text below from their February 1, 2016 press release:

Key dates are:


-- The record date to determine shareholders entitled to receive the
distribution will be February 10, 2016
-- Due bill trading will commence on February 8, 2016 (two trading days
before the record date, so that trades settling after the record date
have due bills attached)
-- The payment date for the distribution will be February 16, 2016
-- The ex-distribution date will be February 17, 2016 (the trading day
after the payment date, so that trades on and after that date will not
have due bills attached)
-- The due bill redemption date will be February 19, 2016 (the second
trading day after the ex-distribution date, when all trades with due
bills attached have settled)

Q: I'm new to the service, have asked a couple questions and have went unanswered, not sure if your getting my questions??? Here we go again though. Wondering why you have stocks in your portfolio's that are not in your coverage universe?? I'd like to read about a stock (tucows as an example) before considering it for my portfolio, I would think your portfolio stocks should be in your coverage universe, am I missing something - thanks - hope you recieve this

Q: I have a 3.9% (ACB $15.90) position that I acquired in 2014. Liquidity is a problem. It took several small purchases over a few months to establish the position which in $ term is actually quite small.

To date Algoma has been a bit of a disappointment.

There have been 2 recent developments.

On Jan 15 they announced a joint venture with Nova Marine to create a Global Cement Carrier Fleet. Growing / Diversifying is good but the cost and how they intend to fund it was not disclosed.

On Feb 16 they announced a favourable arbitration outcome re Mingde. No numbers were announced. Mingde has declared bankruptcy. This process will take some time and there is no way to know how much Algoma will ultimately recover.

I understand the value of patience. The current yield is abt. 2%. The shareholders aren’t being paid much for their patience.

Is it time to move on or would you give Algoma another year or so?

Q: Looking to increase REIT exposure. With growth and income as the objective, which is the better play for 3-year hold?

Q: Could you please comment on CHE.UN 4th quarter and annual report.

Q: Cubic has had a bad year and its share price has tumbled to the point where the company is now so ugly that it seems rather pretty today. 5i likes momentum, which of course works in both up and down directions. Cubic thus has momentum going against it. But in my dumb emotional reptilian brain, I can’t help but be attracted to it. I like its business model. Perhaps I didn't get the biz model (?) (My history has some litter of past mistakes)

Before I back up the wheel borrow and fill it up with Cubic stock , I seek your opinion , hoping it shall be based on substance , on some depth of data , combined with your own thoughts. Trailing data on Cubic is off-putting. But I believe you use data , both trailing type, and forward looking. I expect to have to wait two or more years before any positive movement occurs on Cubic share price. The near noise is inevitable and is not an important factor provided you agree the business model is sound. Cubic would be for a TFSA.

In your opinion what are Cubic’s prospects? I seek an opinion based on your own thoughts plus analyses by reliable types working at the more reputable sources.
