Q: 1) I am in the process of making a few changes in my portfolios and was wondering if you expect to be making any adjustments in the 5i portfolios in the next month or so ?
2) Is 5i still doing portfolio reviews ?
Thanks to the whole team for an outstanding service !
Q: I'm in borderline Top 1% Tax Bracket, so I'm looking for a Flow Thro Fund. The Sprott 2016 Short Duration closed early, run by Eric Nutall. Can you recommend another? And, since I'm maxed out in my RRSP & TFSA, is it ok in a Margin/Cash a/c?
Q: A $400MM bought deal at $18.35 was just announced and trading is temporarily halted. If the share price drops to near this level, would you view it a a good entry point? How would you rate Chemtrade for income and possibly some growth? Are there better alternatives? Thinking of 1/2 position.
Q: Can I please get your latest read on short interest and insider ownership for ClearWater Seafoods? Are either concerning? I'm looking to take a position on recent weakness. Thanks.
Q: Appreciate your thoughts on Corby, which I've owned for several years with a small price appreciation. Dividend is nice but stock won't go up. I already own Andrew Peller, would you recommend selling Corby and do you have any advice on replacement consumer discretionary.
Thank you.
Q: This is another US company question which I recognize is not your area of full coverage. The company is Southern - an electricity utility in the US. Four US analysts have it as a "sell" and many others as a hold. I'm wondering if this is largely because of the shift away from interest sensitive stocks or for some other reason. Wondering if you have an opinion on this company as a purchase for dividend yield and relative security (recognizing that the share price could drop further). I don't currently own it. Thanks and Happy New Year Don
Q: Please mention sectors you feel should be over weight in Canadian and US markets. Intuitively, in expanding economy I would pick Consumer Discretionary, Industrial and Technology. You may have different answer for Canada and US.
What proportion of portfolio should be in US stocks.
Q: Outside of MG, TD and SLF (all of which I own) and their respective sectors, which companies in your coverage universe do you think fit traditional value metrics? Are there any companies in Canada that are outside of your coverage that you would both endorse and seem like value propositions? Thank-you.
Q: I own ZMT but don't notice much upside. Are direct mining holdings, such as the ones mentioned or others, be a bettter investment? What about cyclical considerations?
Your input is appreciated!
Q: Greetings, Peter, Ryan & co.
While dividends are nice to have I do not require them from my portfolio. Reasonable safety is important to me. With that in mind would you please give me your top two or three picks (US or Canada) in each of the following: Healthcare/Pharma/Biotech, Technology, Energy, Precious Metals.
Please feel free to debit my account with as many questions as you deem appropriate.
With appreciation,
Ed
