Q: Is it best to withdraw the minimum amount from a RRIF and draw it down over time. The downside is if there is a significant balance when you die you pay tax at the highest marginal tax rate. What is the significance in leaving the proceeds to charity. Do I avoid the tax?

Q: I hold 6% of my total in HAB. It's my only bond exposure. Now there is the concern that a very high % of investment_grade bonds is BBB, which may cause trouble in recession.Do you think it'd be prudent to switch into CBO or VSB? Or anything you may suggest? Or am I reading too much into this?

Q: I would like to start a position in both Googl and Amzn, but I wondering if I should wait for a better entry point. Q: I have 5-8% (20%total) positions on these utility type stocks; if we enter a melt-up type scenario in the markets? Would it be prudent to reduce my utility type exposure by selling 1/2 positions and invest in growth type names like Vtv, vfv, etc.? Or would it be in my best interest to hold steady and ride the curve and collect dividends, I'm approaching 70 years of age? Thank you!

Q: Regarding recent question about VCI. In the question there is reference to 10% dividend. When I check through TDWaterhouse, it lists dividend at 5.33%. Can you clarify what dividend is? At 10%, it's attractive.

Q: On August 16, 2019 Profound Medical was granted US FDA approval for TULSA-PRO. There will be more trials next year for reimbursement but PRN now has regulatory FDA approval in the US and will start commercial sales in Q4 this year. The next week or so will be very interesting.

Q: This is a follow up re: Derek's question on 8/16 for a list of Cdn dividend/distribution paying companies with substantial foreign ops. I have followed this strategy for sometime and developed my holdings by researching company filings and presentations. I hold he following companies which I believe have substantial foreign ops (revenues/assets/income of at least about 50% - some alot more) BIP.UN,ENB,AQN,BEP.UN,FTS,BPY.UN,GRT.UN,TCN,SLF,MFC,MG
Also - TRP,BNS,GWO and NTR have good sized foreign ops (less than 50% but still significant)
A good place to look for this company information is the segmented information note to the annual financial statements as well as company investor presentations. In some cases profits are not disclosed by geography and you need to look for proxies such as geographic revenues or assets or operational information.

Q: Which of your balanced or income portfolio companies offer the best buy opportunities this week. Have about 1.5 positions of cash available so 2ultimate buy or a bunch of partial. Short term opportunity with a long term view 5+ years. Starting to shift away from value/growth to more income focus. Can also hold the cash a bit longer but feel that now is a good time to get in on a few solid names even if things continue to be volatile.
