Q: On December 10 5i recommended UBER to a member seeking a few US industrial. names. First off I thought UBER was in the tech sector but more importantly, it's stock in the past year has risen a paltry 5.5% and has fallen over 10% in the past month. Hardly a robust record during a pretty good year for these sectors. Why the recommendation?

Q: Interesting comments in your latest Market Update about small caps. In addition to any potential upside in 2025, we are close to the possible annual January “bounce”. If you had to pick 5 (ranked) Canadian small caps to take advantage, which 5 equities would you lean towards? Also, is there an ideal ETF that would cover all the small cap basics? (2 questions)
On another note, long time member here who is extremely grateful for the outstanding service you provide. I’ve listened attentively, learned a lot, and have been blessed with some lucrative decisions, always guided by your sage wisdom. For that I offer a heartfelt thank you, and wish all at 5i a wonderful Christmas and another prosperous 2025!

Q: Your system did not recognize the ticker for Rigetti Computing (RGTI-Q).

This company operates in the Quantum Computing space. It has minimal revenue, big losses, the owner has (I understand) left the company, yet it is getting print and yesterday, after a joint announcement with Quantum Machines, has jumped to >$6.00 - still trading today at huge volumes. all this and a large market cap without support in the numbers? Stock price has risen dramatically in the past month.

Can you provide some insight into the business space this company operates in. Is this company one to watch? Is this space one to watch, and if so which companies should be on the radar (in order of preference please)?

As always, thanks for your advice.

Dave

Q: I only use DLR / DLR.U for Norbert's Gambit, but didn't realize that they pay a distribution until you mentioned some fairly hefty yields in a recent reply.
And sure enough, the TMX website shows yields of 6.7% for DLR and 9.5% for DLR.U, but quarterly distributions of only $0.111 and $0.082 resp., resulting in an annual yield of only ~ 3% (with minor quarterly fluctuations).
Could you please explain this discrepancy?

Q: I've been looking to REIT's with the intention of adding a level of potential inflation protection. CHP.UN seemed to me like a good REIT that would appear to have some resilience - even if Commercial Real Estate in general would take a hit. However it's the "shopping centers anchored by supermarkets" description that gives me pause. The "supermarket" part gives me a degree of comfort. The "shopping center part".....not sure.

Are you able to give me your always valued opinion please?

Q: Hi There, I am trying to stear my portfolio decisions going into 2025, and looking for some of your feedback. I am 28 with 55k in myTFSA ( all after home purchase, so longer time horizon), I have about 5K of the 55K to invest, and the other 50K in the stocks below with their respective weightings of the 55K. I am trying to decide if I should add any other specific stocks or top up weightings to 2% on BSX / BKNG / ISRG / TSM / CELH / SMCI and add to CRWD, DIS, GOOGl, another 1.0%.

Are there any other stocks you would recommend to diversify this portfolio some more. Do you have any concerns with any holdings or their weightings?

Please deduct however many questions you feel necessary, I don't often ask Q's.
