Q: Hello 5i and we wish all the best in the holidays for you.
We plan to buy a tech stock. We are retired and conservative, although with a certain percentage of some safer growth stocks.
We are impressed that Warren Buffett ventured into the tech field by buying Apple and wonder whether we should follow suit.
But we are also looking at Google and are wondering whether it may have a better future.
We would appreciate your thoughts on which one you think might be the best buy right now.
thanks
Q: Would appreciate your take on the Tech Sector for 2017. Which of the above do you favour for growth with the most solid fundamentals? Or is there another one you would prefer? Thanks and Merry Christmas.
Q: CGI Group was downgraded today by Goldman Sachs to a sell. This is a long term hold. Any actions required, and if it was in the Balanced Portfolio at what weighting would you hold it at? Thanks!
Q: Goldman reduced its rating to sell. Would you consider this an opportunity to increase my position from half to full? Has anything changed? Thank you and merry Christmas to everyone.
If you were purchasing today, what stocks and/or ETFs would you buy for each of the TSX eleven sectors? (Consumer Discretionary, Consumer Staples, Energy, Financials, Healthcare, Industrials, Information Technology, Materials, Real Estate, Telecom, and Utilities). Please give at least two choices for each sector.
My daughter-in-law has finally sold her high-MER, low-performing mutual funds, and I have set up a self-directed account for her LIRA, her RRSP, and her TFSA. She is 48 and will probably work till at least 65.
Please feel free to deduct as many question credits as you deem necessary. Thanks in advance for all your valued assistance.
Q: Hi folks, just follow up Q to $80M investment by Constellation Csu/t in Redknee rkn/t. Lot of investors on other sites are saying that Redknee Ceo gave the company away with Pre-ferred shares & warrants to Csu, leaving the rkn investor (like myself) with nothing. I thought the $80M was good for redknee?? so am confused, can you please clarify/explain your thoughts, thanks as always, jb
Q: My IT sector weighing is 8% of total portfolio and consists of three equality weighted equities, SYZ, OTC, and ENGH. Long term holdings and have been happy with overall performance, but I wonder if they are diversified enough across their business segments. I would like to keep OTC, but what other two IT sector equities would you recommend to complete the trio?
Q: I am currently up 30 to 60% on these companies, all are held in an RSP or RIF account. Would you add, take profits, or sell full position in any of these funds. I have about $20,000 to invest currently in my RRSP and am wondering if it is to late to start a new US position. I am considering facebook or google? Thanks for your input!
Q: I have 27% in technology with the following investments.
What should I get rid of to bring the percentage down or would you leave the list as is. KXS, ENGH, SYZ, MDA, CSU, OTC.
Thank you.

Q: What are the expectations for LMP Q2 results to be announced on December 8th. Do you like this stock for capital appreciation? What are the risks/catalysts for LMP?
Q: Hello 51 team,
Please remind me of your rationale for particularly holding SYZ in the balanced portfolio; the allocation in the tech sector being at 18.5%
Thanks,
Antoine

Q: A few years ago you recommended to me the Powershares ETF QQQ for the IT portion of my holdings. It has been a very good performer, thanks. I also own CSU, MDA & ENGH.
Do you still recommend QQQ as your top ETF pick? Are there any other items you would recommend looking at. It can be a stock, mutual fund or etf.
