Q: Would you please do a comparison of these two stocks in regard to stability, growth, dividend and valuation. I currently own both but am wondering about the merits of liquidating MI and putting the proceeds into CAR?

Q: Hello 5i Research Team,

David Berman's recent article in the Globe suggested that now may be a good time to buy beaten down stocks in the US home building industry (i.e. builders and suppliers). Would you agree? Either way, could you please rank the listed stocks for a 5-year hold for an investor with an above-average level of risk, and add any better names I've missed.

Q: I thought I saw that a new analyst is following DRI, calling it a rare gem in the sector with a combination of higher yield but still having growth potential. It is still a fair bit under it’s IPO price, and too small to attract much attention I would think. I read your previous comments on this company, wondering if you having any other “colour commentary”? I’m tempted to put it into a TFSA, especially if the typical growth ideas may be facing headwinds for awhile. Do you know anything about the management, or the company’s performance/history before IPO’ing?

Am I correct in understanding that REITs are a good hedge against inflation? All of these REITs have been decreasing- some more than others. Are there any that you think will continue to be at risk in a rising rate environment? would you add to any during this most recent decline?

Q: Hi,
Is there a good argument to buy a reit or a similar security as opposed to buying a rental property? I know that labour involved in maintaining, commissions involved in buying and selling can be high when it comes to buying a rental property. But in the last few years the capital gains from rentals have been high especially in the GTA area..Are the returns comparable?Thanks.

Q: I've been looking at the three model portfolios and noticed there are no REITs included. Particularly in the income portfolio. Is there a specific reason for this? Do REITs make sense in an income portfolio vs what is in the portfolio now?

Q: I have held Middlefield's IDR for a short time in a RIF and am down 6.05%. Found it has been merged with 2 other ETFs or funds. I am feeling very uncomfortable with it. Can you comment what has happened and if MREL is worth holding? Losses do not bother me much & I can easily move on.
