Q: Hello Peter & Co,
Because of the uncertainties in Central Banks' monetary policies, negative yields in some parts of the world and risk of Helicopter economics, I think it is time to get some exposure in Gold; I will start with half a position (2% of my portfolio equally divided among the 3 above.
Your opinion is most valuable

Q: Hi. Can you give a comparison between XGD, which you have written about earlier, and ZGD, the BMO Equal Weight Gold index ETF for which it seems this might be the first question. Is there value in holding both as my exposure to gold?

Q: I read with interest your recent article in the Post and was intrigued by the comment that research shows 90% of portfolio returns come from sector allocation - if a person wanted to take advantage of that, in a simple, easy to manage and inexpensive way (ignoring taxes for the moment) what would be your view be on an approach where one's equity component of their portfolio consisted entirely of a number of ETF's with each one of the ETF's focused on a particular sector, with a periodic (say quarterly) rebalancing? What specific ETF's would you suggest for such a portfolio? Thank you.

Q: You keep referring to Nemaska as high risk. I agree it has risen exponentually but have you actually looked at the company? ie the source of its lithium, the state of its mine, the relationship with the Cree people, the source of its hydro, the method of ore transportation, the compositiom of the board, the nature of its financing, and the progress of the company towards production and the price it will get for its product and the state of the market overall. Given that ( except for the enthusiasm and momentum ) what is the nature of the risk in your mind from one to three.?

Q: I am sorry if this is a stupid question due to my incompetence. About a decade ago I made good money on a gold stock - Central Gold Trust (GTU.UN). I can't find it anywhere, what happened to it? Thanks again Henry

Q: Hello Peter,
Do you feel it is too late to buy silver stocks as the run up has been quite good? I am looking at the following: silver wheaton , first majestic, ishares silver trust (SLV) or central fund of canada (cef.A) which gives mixture of silver and gold? Also, do you feel gold standard ventures is a stock that can be held for few years with a hope of increased capital appreciation or possible take over. Thank you.

Q: Victoria Gold has been spectacular lately, I believe because it represents a good option on the gold price....they have cash ( recently raised more), an exploration program and a fully permitted "shovel ready" property. Now that it has spurted from roughly the 20c level it is probably getting ahead of itself at 53c close today.
My question is do you have another 2-3 companies that you are aware of with similar qualities (optionality, cash, decent property) that have not had a big move yet ?

Q: Silver stocks. I checked performance one month, three months, 6 months and one year on fr,mag, paa and sso. Fr came out number one,mag number two paa number three and then sso.
Silver stocks don't seem to have the volatility on the downside that gold shares do. Would you prefer silver shares to gold and silver vs. gold. I own all four and have been selling my gold shares and reinvesting funds into the 4 silver companies mentioned. It is working out in my favour. Are there any other Silver companies I should own ? Do you agree with my strategy. Silver looks better than Gold ?
