Q: If memory serves me well, at one time you were recommending the FEZ ETF for European exposure. I bought some two years ago. More recently you have been recommending VE. What I like about FEZ in the current environment is that it has no direct exposure to the UK, a country that seems to have a cloudy economic future these days. VE, in contrast, has 29% of its assets in the UK. FEZ’s MER is a bit higher, but not by much, and its yield (before withholding tax) is also higher. FEZ has 50 holdings while VE has 1262. Are you leaning more toward VE these days because it can be bought directly in Canada while FEZ must be bought in the US market? Or is it the (modest) small cap exposure in VE that you like? Or the much greater number of holdings? Or something else?

Q: I would appreciate your assessment of this exploration and development Lithium company.
I realize that it is a very small micro cap company (25 million) but it has been performing very well recently and just purchased a 17 % stake in project in Chile. Could you also comment on the Lithium space in general. Thank you. Ian

Q: Greetings 5i,
What are your thoughts on BAD? Off of its 52 week lows it seems to be moving in the right direction.
Cheers!

iShares 1-5 Year Laddered Government Bond Index ETF (CLF $17.52)
Q: Hi 5i Team:
A couple of thanks first before getting to my question.
1. Thanks for the fantastic job you did on my portfolio review and the suggested transactions.
2. Thanks for your opinion and feedback on annuities.
I have some money to add to my fixed income. Are you still liking CLF for government bonds and CBO for investment grade corporate bonds. Time horizon is very long term. Or do you have some other suggestions.
Thanks so much.

Q: OIL: it's seems to be in a downward spiral. What is your outlook for it, short and long term? Is it a commodity that one doesn't need much of in their portfolio?
Q: Re: Paul's question concerning eligible dividends & domicile of company.
Thank you for your response earlier today to my question concerning TRL. I looked at their website, and they state that their dividends are "eligible" for the Canadian dividend tax credit. However, they are headquartered in Bellevue WA. Shouldn't that make them an American company?
On the other hand, they also state elsewhere on their website that they "complet[ed] a qualifying transaction with Alignvest Acquisition Corporation, a Special Purpose Acquisition Company or SPAC." Would that then make them a Canadian company for tax purposes?
Would I need to include my TRL investments on the Revenue Canada T1135 foreign property declaration form?

Q: Hi.
Anecdotal?
During the past 5 months, my computer screen did not contain enough space (I had to scroll down) for all the new 52 weeks highs that came furiously
Just noticed over the past week my computer screen did not contain enough space (Ihad to scroll down) for all the new 52 weeks LOWS.
My personal A/D line.

Q: Hello Peter,
I am planning on making a 30% capital contribution to my stock portfolio. With my holdings predominately being the Balanced Equity Portfolio, which stocks are OK to add to given the latest market activity and specific company outlook, regardless of weighting?
Thanks,
Angelo

Q: I wanted to follow up on Harold's question as I am looking to add this REIT with the PRV I currently hold.
Partners website has the Payout Ratio (Distribution/ACFO) at 95.6% as per Q1 2017 which is higher than the 83% you mentioned so I was hoping for some clarification. Is it 83% on AFFO and if so what is the better measurement metric for REITS, AFFO or AFCO?
I also notice the NAV according to the company is $4.45 however the historical stock charts are not good, do you see them creating that value in the share price?

Q: Peter and His Wonder Team
GMP Capital hit a new annual low today on tremendous volume. I guess it is heavily correlated to the price of oil? If so can I expect it to fall further if oil does? I hate selling at the bottom...maybe on a green bounce...no harm or great risk in holding for awhile? Please give your current opinion.

Q: Can you tell me what the earnings per share have been for Richard's Packaging for the previous 12 months and if it is a reasonable expectation to have that earnings per share number climb by 10% for the 12 months going forward?
Also, what does Richard's Packaging debt profile currently look like?
Thanks.
John
