Q: Hi, how significant is the recent news about a new contract? Also, reading between the lines it seems it's a contract from the Canadian government. If so, what do you think the risk is of this going away if a miracle happens and there is a change in government later this month?

Q: Google is trading close to January 2018 levels. Amazon is above March 2018 values but not dramatically. How much better are these companies then 20 and 17 months ago respectively on key metrics?
Are they as good a bet as you are going to get to beat the S&P 500 over the next 5 to 10 years? (I know a lot can happen over that time frame, but that is the same with every company)

Q: In light of the recent manufacturing numbers along with being down 21%, and approaching my mental 25% stop loss limit, I have the finger on the sell button and need a reason to hold?

Q: Can you explain a bit more about what is going to happen with the upcoming stock split? This is what I've seen so far: "Currently, unitholders are expected to receive 0.11 BIPC shares for each unit held of Brookfield Infrastructure (i.e., one BIPC class A share for every nine Brookfield Infrastructure units held) in the form of a special distribution." Q: In January '19 I pivoted my portfolio to a defensive strategy which has let me sleep at night while returning 8.1% YTD through the end of September. But I also have kept about 30% cash in reserve. I am now doing a deep dive with a view to deploying that cash but all my defensive standbys all have sky high valuations. Thus, two questions:

1. Can you recommend any solid defensive, dividend paying stocks whose valuations are not through the roof? - I have the banks covered.

2. On a contrarian level can you recommend any energy stocks best poised to profit if/when that sector ever turns? A dividend payer is appreciated.

Q: Hi. I have 200 shares of TSGI in a TD RRSP account and 200 shares of TSGI in an Interactive Brokers margin cash account (account that can hold shares traded globally)

Unfortunately,the share offer by Fllutter is still below my purchase price.
Questions:
1) What should I do with the shares? Do you think I should hold or sell?
2) What do you think is the potential of the share after both giants merge?

Q: Reliq states that they will be cash flow positive by the end of the year. However, I have concerns about their burn rate. One estimate is that they will use up their cash within about 2 months. Do you agree and what would you expect them to do -- borrow/stock issue, etc.?

Q: Each of these stocks make up between 2% and 2.5% of our portfolio. I have some cash to deploy and am thinking of adding to one of these. Which one, if any, would you see as a good choice at this time, and why?

Q: Visa vs. Mastercard for a new investment?

Q: I would welcome your thoughts on Brookfield Global Infrastructure BGI.UN. I am considering it purely as an income play. Safety and consistency (or potential for increase) in the dividend are my only concerns with this investment. If it isn't deemed to be too risky, I might consider taking as much as a 5% position in it. If the statistics indicated on the TMX website may be relied upon, it appears to be trading at a very reasonable P/E multiple of 8 times and its price to book value of 1.018 also seems to me to indicate that one isn't paying a particularly high premium for it. I however, have no idea how someone should properly assess the value of such an investment and so I am seeking your thoughts and guidance. Thank you!

Q: Hello,

I've recently acquired a half position (2.5% of my portfolio) in NFI Group. The company has announced several, large new orders since the beginning of August, is trading at a quite reasonable 12 times P/E ratio and is paying a very healthy dividend of approximately 6%. I have several questions however that I'm hoping 5i might be able to assist me with.

When NFI "sells" a bus do you know if they actually get paid whatever price has been agreed upon and are then free and clear of that transaction OR do they actually, typically either lease the vehicle to it's new "owner" or finance the sale price themselves in any way?

Are you able to please provide me with NFI's current dividend payout ratio, as well as with any information about what their dividend payout ratio may have been, on average, over the past 5 - 10 years? Have they ever cut or eliminated their dividend?

Do you believe that their recent acquisition of Alexander Denis Ltd. (ADL) might be exposed to any risks from Brexit?

Q: YOur site lists a yield of 2.67%, Issuer blackrock lists a Yield to maturity of 2.3%. which is more indicative of future total yield? With being able to get 2.3%, risk free, on saving at EQ Bank, why take risk in this bond ETF?
