Both AYA and ITX seem to be recovering now. They both seem to have their issues behind them for now. Would 4% of a portfolio split between the two be too much. Risk is not a worry.

Q: I have 100K to invest, with the requirement that it all be in dividend tax credit eligible stocks, income and minimal overall risk are more important than growth in this account. I would like to keep it to no more than 10 names at approx 10K each, so far I have come up with BNS, CM, ENB, TRP,BCE,FTS,NWC, T, ALA,SLF. Do you have any concerns or suggested additions.

Q: The data I have is showing that Frontera Energy(FEC)has a much higher net margin than PXT, RRX and ERF.(does this mean that it has a better cash flow?) How do you rank these companies in term of buy, hold or sell and best to worst?

Q: I am interested in investing in dividend growers that 5-6 years from now would be yielding in the 4 to 5% range. At that time I would change from DRIP to cash payments. Therefore I would accept a lower yield now but would grow to that range. What would you suggest?

I do not want to invest out side Canada more then what I already have.I would like to invest in Canadian companies that have much of their income in other countries mostly Europe and developing markets.Could you provide a longish list of possible good investments with the above in mind. It would help if the were safe and had a div. Please include ETF'S if you like.

Q: Dear 5i,

I am aiming to configure a fixed-income allocation that is an equal compromise between safety/security and long-term total return potential. I would like to choose ETFs that are versatile enough that they may continue to be reasonably held irrespective of changes in market, interest rate, inflation, and economic conditions. Which configuration do you think would be most appropriate for fulfilling this mandate:

1. 100% VAB
2. 50% VAB, 50% VCB or ZCM
3. 25% VAB, 25% VSB, 50% VCB or ZCM
4. 50% VCB or ZCM, 50% intermediate-duration (~5 years) Canadian government bond ETF (does one exist?)
5. another configuration (please suggest)?

I would prefer to avoid the higher risk XHY and CPD. Why does 5i prefer CLF (VSG is cheaper and similar) and CBO (VSC is cheaper and similar)? VCB is relatively new and has only $12.7M in net assets at this time, is this a problem? Or should I opt for the costlier but similar ZCM?

I realize there are actually many embedded questions in this 'question', so please deduct as many credits as appropriate. I am sure your answer will be well worth it.

BRP has offered to purchase up to 350M subordinate voting shares on an Auction Tender at between 37 and 44 per share in increments of .10 until July 17th (unless withdrawn or extended.)
