Q: Hello 5i team,
With the short attack on lightspeed, how accurate/right has been Spruce Point Capital in the past? Are they the same firm that shorted Dollarama a few years back?

Q: Just a comment...this morning BMO Investorline journaled additional "cash in lieu" to my accounts for the takeover of IPL. I assume this is as a result of the many comments I made and others that the cash portion for our shares seemed very low, about $18.46/share for me. The new amount raises the cash portion to about $19.90/share. Something went wrong on the distribution and this is much more reasonable but I wish I had taken the $20/share cash offer.

Q: Hi 5i,

Just a comment: The short report on LSPD reminds me of a similar short attack on SHOP, at a time when SHOP had attained the lofty heights of around $120 a share and the short report concluded that it couldn't be worth any more than about $60 a share. It is very difficult for investors to have any certainty in the moment but that short thesis on SHOP turned out to be garbage and it is quite possible that this one on LSPD is too.

Q: Purchased AEO anticipating strong sales with back to school, reopening, stimulus and success of their aerie brand. Unfortunately, purchased this high and now have a 20% loss. Do you see opportunity for AEO to recover and do well or time t switch to another stock. This is in a registered account, so tax write-off is not a consideration.

Q: In the interests of proactively rebalancing my portfolio for the coming year, I'd appreciate your recommendations on the sectors you would be inclined to overweight in 2022...and those you would underweight. On a related note, my tech stocks have now grown to 21% of my total holdings. As a recent retiree - with a solid pension, reasonable risk tolerance, and relatively balanced portfolio - would you be comfortable with that weighting? If not, what would you advise? (As a loyal 5i reader, I'm mindful that portfolio weightings are a personal call.) Thank you.

Q: Markets are going through a correction the past couple of weeks, particularly today (Tuesday). Tech is being hit hard. Q: In my wife's TFSA we ended up with a bunch of Peyto stock that essentially I did not liquidate in 2020 because by the time I accessed the account it was sort of too late. In a fairly typical example where the best investments are the forgotten ones, it has swollen to a major part of that account. What are your thoughts on its run, its current debt and its potential. I will be reducing the holdings due to the position size but I have been reluctant to sell much while it has been on a (volatile) run up.

Q: Hi

Can I sell AEM for tax loss in my cash account and buy XMA on the same day?

It is noted that AEM is 4.74%.of XMA.

Would this allow me the tax loss?
