Q: Like Herm asked yesterday. It seems PRL and GSY are moving in tandem towards year lows. At some point and tax loss cannot be utilized in TFSA would you consider a swap or better to hold? Can you suggest at what price this would make sense or do you think PRL will eventually have more growth potential? Thanks Larry

Q: Another hypothetical question. If today you have let's say $1M and you want to sell all your investments and put in high dividend stocks generating an after tax yield of 5% with a condition that these companies do not have more than 33% Debt to Total Assets, are not interest bearing businesses and are not businesses in food, fashion, gambling or SIN. What would your top 5 to 10 choices be to invest for the next 20 years.

Q: It looks like NVA has performed well over the past few months and is now reaching a point where upside based on valuation may be a bit limited, (barring a surge in oil prices). Anything you see, other than TVE and WCP which I already own, that might have greater upside? Am I wrong in my assessment?

Thanks.

Q: Most successful investors I have read about become rich investing in 3 to 4 consolidated holdings. What do you think of that approach? If you had to sell everything today to invest in 4 stocks which could double in 1-3 years time frame, which will those 4 stocks be. How do you protect yourself from huge drawdowns along the way. On the other hand what do you think about over diversification where you do not invest more than like $2500 per investment and sell half when the stock doubles and leave the rest and continue doing that.

Q: Hi,

Not sure I understand the 3 for split where the extra shares are considered a dividend. I had a large cap gain prior to the split which has been substantially reduced by the factor of the split, and now have a large dividend that I must pay tax on when I do my 2025 taxes. At least that is how my TD account shows it. How can that be a good thing for an investor.

Have I got this wrong?

Q: Since CDRs are listed on a Canadian exchange I was surprised when in your response to Greg this morning you stated: "CDRs are treated the same as US stocks for tax purposes". My understanding is that US ETFs listed on a Canadian exchange are not subject to form T1145.

Q: Hi team,
It seems critical mineral US names are raging on chinas recent critical mineral restrictions. Yet VNP actually dropped last Friday. Is it being over looked in this trade by big investors in favour of larger US names? Would VNP be a good way to play the world’s reliance on critical minerals ? Is it time to buy the name? Or are there better more attractive names to bet on for this?

Thanks,
Shane
