Investment Q&A

Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.

Q: Can you please provide a list of 10 USD and 10 CAD stocks that you hate? Looking for overvalued / broken story / bad balance sheet / margin compression types of names to short that should be very weak during a sell-off. Preference towards names with liquid options markets if possible.

Thanks

Q: I hold all these in my TFSA and they are all down considerably (ranging from -35% to-90%). I am wanting to clean some of these up. Are any of these worth keeping?
Thanks

Q: Entrepreneur and author Tony Seba has an amazing record of correctly predicting various time frames for a number of disruptions. His prediction of what Robotaxis will potentially do to the auto industry is concerning enough.

My question though, is prediction on how Precision Fermentation will affect the food industry and agriculture. It sounds like by 2030, the dairy industry will essentially be bust followed by meat and egg production in the mid 2030's - if I understand this correctly. My concern is my investment in Nutrien, should this occur. This isn't really all that far into the future.

Also, not sure if 5i has an opinion on Tony Seba's views of the future in general, but I was wondering if investing in an ETF with Precision Fermentation content is a suitable investment. I came across EATV which has a "smallish" portion in this sector, but has a relatively high expense ratio and light volume. Your thoughts ?

Q: Hi I am 40 years old. I currently pay into a pension and am scheduled to retire in 2040. I have mostly been growth focused throughout my entire portfolio and am wondering when I should begin to consider a more balanced style. Ie income vs growth. Just to limit any risks. Thanks for any advice

Q: I own the following in my TFSA - LMND, NVCR, U, FSLY, TWLO. All are down significantly and make up only a small percentage of the total TFSA. Because I can not take a tax loss, would you recommend leaving them tucked away for now? In other words, do any have good potential? Or would you recommend selling and investing elsewhere? Thanks.

Q: Hi 5i Team - I can't remember the source but have heard a comment stating that Web 3 and AI will bolster each other. First of all, do you know what this might mean and also are there any companies that could benefit from it.
Thanks.

Q: Let me be the first to ask you about this company.

Main product appears to be a monopoly with no competition. They are releasing an updated version soon, with a good chunk of their installed base nearing EOL and due for replacement.

Founder led. No debt, net cash. High returns on capital, growing nicely. Secular tale winds in healthcare space. Valuation doesn't seem stretched.

Outside of being smaller in size, any red flags for you? On first glance, is it something you'd personally consider investing in?

Thanks.
