Q: Hello 5i :

I current own Wellsfargo shares and they are not doing much. Do you think I should sell them and buy Banc shares instead? Please compare the two and provide your expert advice regarding the future earnings, cash flow, dividend growth, debt and multiple expansion in the next few years!

Q: I have a question about IWO. ( GROWTH PORTFOLIO). How Would you compare it to Mawer Global small cap. Which one Would you prefer ( considering taxes, fees, performance, expected return). I would like to know this in context of growth portfolio. thanks

Q: i bought BCE almost 10 years ago after the flaherty income trust debacle. i have not added to the position and it now makes up a small percentage of my portfolio (less than 2%). going forward i struggle to see where BCE will get growth from. I was thinking of selling BCE and buying more BEP.UN. It would bring BEP.UN up to a full 5% weight. To me BEP.UN would provide a little more capital growth along with a higher dividend. These are both held in a registered account. Thoughts?

Q: Hi Peter and Staff
I have a very small weighting in oil and gas and would like to increase it slightly with 1 more name. The two that I own so far are PEY and VET . If I will own 3 for a long term hold ,total return, dividends and capital gains, are those two fine to be 2 of the 3.
If so, please recommend one of the following with your reasoning to add. If you would drop PEY or VET in order to have 2 of the ones listed below, please advise

CNQ,FUR,RRX,SU,TOG or WCP

Q: There is a lot of noise about how expensive stock markets are and that we are overdue for a significant correction, particularly in the US. But if I look at my US stock, P/E's are very reasonable (see AAPL), and less than ten in some cases (see GILD).
What gives?

Q: I am a relatively new investor and want to understand how the tax loss function works. I have a few questions.

What is the standard taxation rate for capital gains?

How is the tax loss calculated? Is it based on the average cost of purchases or the last purchase or some other formula

I am assuming that you can buy back any stock that you have sold for a tax loss after 30 days. Am I right?

Q: My son is returning to studies and investing what he earned as buy and hold for 4-5 years. He put two-thirds in balanced mutual funds with Canada, US and International exposure and now wants to invest the remaining one-third in individual Canadian stocks. He has enough for 4-5 names and already invested in Enbridge. What would you suggest as solid names for the remaining four given his time frame? Thanks.

Q: Hi, CCMP Capital Advisors, the major shareholder and the initial private equity investor group is divesting its full shareholding (13 mln shares +15% over allotment, if exercised ) through a secondary offering for $18.50 a share. Does this move reflect on the future prospects of Jamieson? Are there any the major shareholders/insiders, after this sale? What is your current opinion on this company ? After watching the share price do well, since the initial offering in July, I bought a position yesterday at the open. Thanks for your insight.
