Q: To get some exposure to small caps, I invested in MAW150 late last year; I wonder if XSU has done better in the same time frame. If so, any idea why? And if so, would you switch to XSU? I intend to hold for what I see as the medium term, 2-3 years. Thanks!

Q: These ETFs make up my main bond holdings in an RSP. All have done OK, but are starting to slip a little bit. I also hold XTR, which has a high bond component, and noticed that they recently reduced the distribution. In an increasing rate environment, how would you rank these 3 bond ETFs in terms of (1) maintaining share price; and, (2) maintaining distributions?

Q: I'm looking to reduce risk and start preserving capital in my all equity balanced portfolio. I have raised about 10% cash and am looking into fixed income etf's to achieve my goal. Would you suggest something like XBB/AGG/XINC or fine tune with a few different US/CAD fixed income etf's? Or is there a better option than bonds?

Q: Hello 5i,

I am looking for a Canadian dollar etf alternative to the above international quality factor etf. IQLT has 1% USA assets. Could you suggest two CAD etf alternatives: one with some USA assets and one without? I suspect the mer will be higher, but that’s ok.

Q: For an Income balance portfolio which stocks and/or EFT would you recommended for Consumer cyclical and Consumer discretionary sectors? Preferably with some dividend to keep the desired Income Portfolio as a goal. As to my last question I also ask you for recommendations for an Income Balanced Portfolio for stocks and/or EFT in a Consumer Defensive sector.

Q: Can you please give your thesis on MMX? My understanding is that it is a royalty company that will do well if prices of silver / gold go up because they will get more royalties - how does that work? Do they give money to exploration companies in exchange for royalties, and we are counting on mgmt to pick good projects given their expertise? How many properties are cash producing vs speculative?

Also, the PE ratio at ~100 seems really high, but is that the best way to be looking at it?

I'm happy with high growth, but what happens if silver/gold prices stay low for another year or two, are they in trouble?

Q: For those who hold ZRE and/or ZUT:

After multiple attempts via phone and RBC's internal secure email system, I finally spoke to a RBC Direct Investing representative today regarding ZRE and the Dec 29/20 RBC announcement of their 1.048:1 stock split. The rep was excellent, but had to check higher up the food chain to get an answer. Within minutes she got back to me with the answer.

The share split announcement for ZRE was simply a mistake on their part. There is no share split. Ditto for anyone holding ZUT (I don't).

It was as I suspected, but I couldn't let it go until I had it confirmed to me by RBC. End of story.
