Q: Is there a US bank ETF you would recommend? Or would you prefer owing one or two banks instead? if so, which ones?

Q: It seems to me Open Text is one of your top technology stock pick now, and I like it very much too. The only problem for me is that the company seems like to be paying too much to stock price and playing trick with the stock price. It has a split last year, and now it is splitting again. This is in stark contrast with companies like Google, Priceline, Amazon, not to mention Birkshire, etc. Is this a warning sign? I mean two splits in less than a year.

Q: Hi there, as part of the new year, I have rebalanced my portfolio with all names in the BE Portfolio with equal weighting. By reading through other's Q&A's and I've broken it down into the following accounts:

UNREG: BNS, SLF, WSP, T, PKI, CGX, ENB
TFSA: CSU, SIS, PBH, KXS, NFI, CXI, TOY, SYZ
RRSP: ATD.B, CCL.B, SJ, WCP, MX, AEM, MG, ENGH

I believe I read you are considering moving a name or two from the growth portfolio over to the BE Portfolio so I have a little bit of cash in my TFSA to make that purchase when the time comes. Based on my breakdown, are there any names you would swap around for maximum portfolio returns?

Q: Given the approx. 5% drop in ALA's price due to a likely merger, would this be a good buying opportunity? Also, why would this (and other stocks) drop when a merger looks to be accretive long-term unless they take on a ton of debt?

Q: chh. in 3-5 years do they have an ok chance of having stronger cash flow as they trim down their debt and possibly implementing a dividend. they look to be in a good growing sector, your in depth thoughts please.

In our portfolios (TFSAs, RRSP, RRIF, and Margin, we are moderately overweight in ATD.B, CCL.B, and KBL; (about one and a half positions in each) and are somewhat more overweight in CSU (slightly over two positions).

In the case of KBL, it has come down over 15% over the last year, so would it be prudent to reduce its weighting (we're still up)?

Should we keep the slightly overweight positions in ATD.B and CCL.B?

There was a recent article in the Globe pertaining to CSU by Andrew Willis "A Canadian firm's strategy for deals finds new roadblocks". Possibly the premise of this article isn't valid, but due to having a bit more than two positions with CSU, would it be wise to take some money off the table here?

It's so hard to sell shares in good companies!

Q: I have 21 holdings in my RRSP. All dividend payers and am interested in diversity,safety and income. I have 5% USA and 6% CDN bonds the balance are CDN equities. With the unclear future going forward what do you think my weightings should be for diversity and can you suggest some emerging market holdings.

Do you have any sense of whether it will be called or reset.
If it is reset I am happy to hold, otherwise I would move on to a higher yield.

Q: SGY has dramatically outperformed RRX over past 6 & 12 months.
Thinking of switching to RRX. Have you heard rumors of takeover of SGY?
