Q: Scanning your latest research summary the 12.3% yield on NAL jumped off the page at me. Your B ranking doesn't put up a red flag but it also isn't in your portfolios. What is your outlook for this company. Will it continue sideways? Chances they will bring back the div? Possible short term buy at the $2 price with expectation it will pop back up to the recent $2.5 range for a short term profit? Or move on to better things realizing the 12% annualized div is gone and was a statistical hangover from better days...Any other yield traps on your list...BDI, ADN, CPX...

Q: Hi Peter,
It's an interesting question by Brian re: Mega Bears, and your response makes total sense. I've always appreciated the view of Jim Rogers but he has been looking for total collapse as long as I recall. To your point eventually he will be right. A telling comment I read about Marc Faber is that he has correctly called 20 of the past 3 recessions. Where do you put the views of David Rosenberg in all this ?

Q: looking back it looks like ALA and IPL have been base building for about 15 months. Is that significant or is the price of crude the only factor in the pricing? What does your reply say about the viability of technical factors in stocks like IPL and ALA?

Q: Hi Team, On May 8/17 I asked a general question on TOS and your answer was:TOS has done a very good job getting the company to where it is, with FDA approval, good partners and a solid growth opportunity worldwide. We like what it has done, and it has good potential. But.....the stock is very expensive and this needs consideration. It trades at 7X 'expected' 2018 sales already. It is expected to turn a profit in 2018 but any slowdown or problems would really hurt the stock. We would not 'assume' 40% returns here, but do like it generally today.
I have a followup question, how much of TOS's revenue would come from the US or Europe? My thinking is if TOS has a significant exposure to the US in particular this would help me make an investment decision. It appears to me today good companies with US exposure are worth a little special attention or premium. Thanks as always. Chris

Q: My birthday always prompts an RRSP review and the magic age of 71 is not that far away so I am slowly transitioning from equities to safer, dividend yields as I won't need the funds for quite a while after I have to convert to a RRIF.
I have just initiated good positions in Hydro One and the new ECN preferred. I am looking at Enbridge and Altagas for at least a ten year hold and would be happy with just the dividend. I already have a good chunk of Interpipeline.
Are pipelines in particular and dividend companies in general looking at significant headwinds with interest rates slated to rise, probably quite a bit, over my ten year plus timeframe. I'm looking for investments that I can park and collect without undue concern.
If not them, then who, with the criteria outlined?

Q: After holding on through all the volatility, I now have 9.5% of my portfolio in AYA (an average of 100% gain). Given the news since your update review, do you feel AYA will hold on to its gains and do you still rate this as a B+ ? Although I like the idea of sticking with winners, I suspect it would be prudent to pare back (or eliminate??) my holding. I have many of your BE portfolio picks as well as some from your Growth, but none are at a full position. Currently, I hold AYA shares in TFSA, RSP and Unregistered accounts. Your thoughts/suggestions would be much appreciated on what (if any) % to keep holding and what to do for replacement. Many thanks as always.

Q: Can you rank the stocks best to worst in your opinion. These are the stock s that are in my utilities sector which is 3% of my current portfolio. Would you add, swap or remove any of them? My portfolio holdings/thoughts are very similar to your BE Portfolio.

Q: I am planning to move some of my U.S. holdings gradually to an etf style. Below you will see a 60/40 split that i found on an american site. It looks good like a good mixture of growth and safety to me. I was wondering what your thoughts would be. I noticed that a few of the symbols don't work, so i would have to find equivalents. But, this gives an idea of the sector breakdown. Thanks again:

Q: I have half positions in both of these companies in a cash account. I have a large gain in aya having held since 2013 ( sold 2/3 at or near peak ). With Great Canadian stock , I sit at even from what I paid. Should I keep gc or aya at this time since I am needing cash.
