Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.

Q: Currently I own the shares of RUF.UN, recently its share price fell due to the Hurricane Harvey which hit Texas, where most of the RUF.UN's real estate properties are. Since this is a one time catastrophic event do you recommend that I increase my position in this company. I see this company as a good bond proxy (dividend yield is approx 6.00%) with little volatility. The purpose of my investment is "income" and moderate price appreciation. Do you agree with my reasoning or do you suggest another company?

Q: In response to Gordon's request on the impact of Hurricane Harvey.

American Hotel Income Properties REIT LP (HOT.UN-T) says it has completed inspections of three Oak Tree Inn hotels located in Hearne, Texas and Livonia, Louisiana and "all are operating as usual and serving existing customers as well as relief agencies as they are able to accommodate them."

It also said the nearby Embassy Suites Dallas DFW Airport South in Texas has "not yet been affected by the influx of evacuees but One Lodging Management is working closely with national and local relief agencies to provide hotel rooms as needed."

Q: In reagrds to your model portfolio update;

Sell full position in BMO Equal Weight REIT ETF (ZRE, NR)
Trade Rationale - We see a few headwinds facing the broad REIT industry. Higher potential rates may make this segment come out of favour while also increasing costs to the REITs themselves. Add in high property values and pressure on retail stores, and we think it is time to be more targeted with any REIT exposure.

I concur and shifted my focus to smaller, higher yielding albeit riskier REITS like PRV which is flat since purchase not including DRIP & NXR just bought. My question is what REIT's would you recomend for this targeted approach and retail concerns, I am familair with some of your more popular REIT suggestions so hoping to hear some diferent names.

Thanks!

Craig

Q: I am helping my 65-year-old mother reallocate about 20% of her growth and income portfolio in collaboration with her financial advisor; the major move is to decrease the very large position she has in bank stocks. For most of this chunk (17% say), her advisor has suggested an even-split combination of the following (in light of the interest rate hike, and to provide additional dividends): Telus (T), Pure Multi-Family REIT (RUF.UN), Slate Retail REIT (SRT.UN), Power Financial (PWF), Manulife (MFC), and Altagas (ALA) (in anticipation of the potential WGL acquisition). Would you replace any of these (and if so with what)? Would you give greater weight to any? Thanks!

Q: I hold substantially less than 5% of each of the above securities in my diversified portfolio.The sector is not over-represented in my portfolio. I would appreciate your opinion as to which, if any, should be sold because of duplication; and/or to reduce the # of stocks held; and/or because of other specific concerns; and which, if any, should be added to. I do not require the cash from any disposition, am not averse to risk, and, subject to your comments, would reinvest it in this or any other sector which you recommend.Thank you in advance for your usual reasoned response.

Q: Hi, could you please suggest one of these,or another you might like better,for income mostly and of course some upside. Do they use ROC to pay part of the dividend?This would be a full position 5%. Management,LowDebt,Good Sector,and capital preservation is most important.
Thanks

Q: With Milestone sale now going through, do you think the mutual funds that held it, would be looking at other US real estate funds like Tricon, Morguard Reit, Pure Multi Reit, and out of these 3 how would you rate them for buys at this time.
Thank you so much
