Q: One of the US companies you mentioned as suitable for an option writing strategy was Cal-Maine foods. Recent reports that I have seen are forecasting a substantial drop in revenues and EPS in 2017, yet I cannot find out the reason for the expected drop. Analyst ratings have also been lowered recently likely in response to this forecast. Also the share price has been falling in recent trading sessions. Are you able to shed any light on what is happening and why? Are there any fundamental changes that are affecting the company or the industry in which they operate? Where do you see the company going over the next 2-3 years? Thanks.
Q: On April 26 you replied to a question on CWX and concluded a breakout above $5 is possible. It is now trading at $5.50. Do you think it still has room to run? Would you purchase it for a long term hold? Thanks
Q: Hi 5i Team. I was wondering if you could tell me your top three names that you would buy today if entering the market. This is play money in a TFSA, my RRSP follows your Balanced Portfolio so risk and diversification concerns do not need to weigh into your answer. I am a big boy and understand there are no guarantees so do not expect an angry e-mail if these names do not perform. Just wondering what you would do if you were shopping for stocks today.
Q: This company is in an interesting space and has a CEO, Stephen Reid, who was previously employed at a senior level with Alaris Royalty.Given the success of other financial firms in the space "vacated" by the banks, what is your opinion of FCF's prospects? Thank you.
Q: I would appreciate your advice regarding Brookfield's announcement concerning BBP (Brookfield Business Partners). Bam.a has dropped today seeming on the news. As a shareholder of BAM. A already would this be a good opportunity to buy more? Is the opportunity to then also end up with BBP shares also make this a good buying decision?
Two part question. What news is there to explain why PPL is down 2% today and IPL up 2% (as of 2:50pm)?
Also, if we assume that the sector moves largely as a group with occasional daily fluctuations, would it not make sense to SELL holdings of IPL on a day like today to replace it with PPL given the roughly 4% gap in their daily movement? I watch these two and it seems that this approach could yield small but consistent growth.
Q: Benj Gallagher had an article today in the G&M touting PGF as a possible turnaround story. Has made a nice run lately but I see you've always thought very little of this company in the past. What are your thoughts now? I have virtually no energy in my portfolio.
Q: Chorus has been a very steady high-yield performer. Its latest results were a bit below expectations, and one analyst seems to have downgraded his rating to "hold." The stock has dropped three per cent. With a yield of 7.8 per cent I am considering buying. Your view, please?
Q: all three companies have done fund raises, my question is who would buy spinmasters fund raise at 26.60 when the stock is selling at 26.30 and why is the stock down so much on this fund raise. dave
Q: Can I have your thoughts on their most recent quarter? Margins are still a concern, but everything else seems very stable. My strategy is to mix my balanced portfolio with some higher dividend payers (where I expect little, if any share/dividend growth), with smaller dividend payers that should see more dividend growth and capital appreciation. Would you be comfortable to continue holding DCI?
Q: Hi 5i, what is your view on the $100 million equity raise at FCR. Do you like this stock going forward in a non-registered income portfolio? Do you anticipate a dividend increase in 2016?
Thanks
Rob
Q: Could I please have your comments on SmartREIT results. They appear very good to me. This REIT has been performing very well for many years but you don't seem keen to recommend it. Is there a particular reason?
Q: Do you or any of your readers know if there a free program that can Monitor - Streaming Data for Stocks, Major Indices, Forex, and Commodities. I was using HDVFN, but are unable to use any more. Manuel
