Q: TAG Oil had a disappointment on its Cheal-D1 in September and the price has pulled back. Do you have a time frame for the next significant events planned by the company? Could you give me your updated opinion on the stock in general?

Q: I'm hoping you might be able to help me understand why Broadcom (AVGO) seems to be so highly regarded by the investment community, as a strong buy. When I review the stock on the TMX website there is an indication that this company's shares are currently trading at a price to earnings multiple of 223.6 to 1. That seems to me to be an insanely high valuation yet the Research tab indicates that 21 analysts rate the company as a strong buy, 1 as a moderate buy and 1 as a hold.
Do you have an opinion about this company and its future prospects? Do firms in this industry typically trade on the basis of some other metric than P/E? Given that I hold nothing else in this space within my portfolio currently, would you recommend that I take a 5% position in this firm at this time?

Q: Hello 5i team, My wife and I, retirees, hold a fairly conservative portfolio, including the listed stocks above in our TFSA's. Our overall asset mix is 5/45/50 cash/fixed income/equities. If (in view of the buoyant markets) we chose to increase our cash position, which 1 or 2 of the listed stocks would you suggest we sell? Thank you.

Q: Approximately when would you consider buying companies that may have been oversold from tax loss selling? Can you list 3 candidates that may be oversold with chance to rebound in 1H/18??
Q: For tax loss reasons I would like to replace Whitecap, looking for a recommendation or two in the energy sector, with total return in mind, including a minimum 3% dividend. I also own SGY, VET, BEP.UN, KWH.UN and PKI and SPB. Thanks for the great service, I'm a very happy customer.
Q: The Canadian component of my income portfolio has AQN (12%), BCE (18%), CSH.UN (14%), DR (14%), XTR (12%), CPD (17%) and XHY (12%). What do you think about this diversification? I also have $100K in cash remaining to further deploy in Canada. Other than oil and gas, what Canadian income stocks would you suggest?

Q: I'm looking for growth stocks from the Growth Portfolio that have been beaten up and are potentially poised to rebound soon and have the highest possible up side for my TFSA.
I your view currently , with the exception of ITC which I just purchased. Which other one or two would you consider right now.
Thanks

Q: What is your opinion on this one? Looks like a company that's majorly undervalued.
Q: Hi 5i team.
I have to sell several stocks and claim a capital gain. These of course are winners and I will probably buy all or most back. I was told to wait till trade settles to buy back which of course is several days. With the market climbing almost daily I worry about losing those gains or one or another stock jumping due to news or sometimes no news and not holding it.
I'm a believer in long term fundamentals but think short term technical analysis can be helpful here though I don't really have a good knowledge of this.
My question really is what technical indicators are best in this situation over a several day or week or two span. I have been using an MACD oscillator - exponential with periods 12, 26, 9 because it is available to me and seems simple enough to try to time drop in values (sell) for several days to hopefully buy back at same price or a little lower. Not looking to make big gains but to avoid loss of gains. Thank you in advance for this and all the helpful advice from this service.

Q: Hi 5iResearch Team,
RIO stock price surged by just over 4% this past Friday but I couldn't find any RIO-related news that would have contributed to this jump. Would you please comment on what what may cause the stock price to rise.

Q: I have a basket of small miners including VIT, GGD, MYA, MTU, in my trading account. Together they make up about 1/4 of my precious metals position which is about 6% now in the trading account. Can I get your opinion on these specific companies? Would you prefer others? I am bullish on gold and silver for the short and mid-term, how about you guys at 5i?
Q: What is your present view on this company for the next 3 to 5 years. Thanks

Q: Hi, i am looking to add some of these names to my portfolio. I want long term growth. I am young and can hold 5 years plus. Please ignore sector diversification. Can you rank best to worst. Can you also comment on significant valuation differences? IE MG versus NFI or WPK. Is it simply business earnings stability? Because it appears growth in Magna earnings is quite significant even relative to NFI or WPK.
Q: Ubisoft, Actvision Blizzard, Nintendo , all these gaming companies are gaining in value.
Are any of these good investments. There might be other related companies that maybe cheaper and may also gain in value. Just like to know your thoughts.
Thanks so much. Barry from Montreal

Q: Thanks for all you do to help us in the market. Presently I have the following exposure to both Canadian + US financials
- US:PYPL, BAC,C,
- Canadian: BND ,RY,TD.
My exposure to this sector in total is 22% of my US + Canadian Portfolio. I would like to purchase another $100,000 (Cad) in Canadian banks to take advantage of the Dividends. PS the funds are presently in a bank account that collects very low reruns. Should I wait for a pullback? or go ahead without trying to time the market also what is the risk of my exposure being so heavily weighted to US + Canadian Financials? PS Interesting that PYPL has returned 40% in the last 14 mths + BNS just over 30%. Thanks
