In tax loss selling mode repositioning for the new year or is there something fundamentally wrong with the volatility?

Q: Hi 5i. Member since day one and my current subscription goes through next year. Don’t be misled by a few complainers. People who are satisfied often don’t say anything. People who are complainers always find something to complain about, no matter how trivial. Your forum does not have a significant problem with people asking long questions. At the time I am writing this, of the 15 immediately prior questions showing, exactly one of them is more than 6 lines of writing. Long questions are often more interesting than short ones, in my view, and the answers are often more beneficial to the person asking. Please don’t take away my ability to read the questions that people feel they need to ask, regardless of length. If a question is too long for some others’ patience, temperament, intellect or attention span, the response they should receive is this: DON’T READ IT. JMO.

Q: Is it to late to get into Kinaxis? I just read the globe and mail article which suggested that competition from the big guys might be a risk. It is also somewhat expensive. Your advice would be appreciated.

Q: Hi team:

Since XTC announced its Q4/YE results on 12/03 SP has really taken off and it's now in over bought territory (RSI 72.22) according the TA reports. This is accomplished no less by going again a horrible week of sell-off at the TSX.

My experience with this name is that it's SP used to slide back down every time it peaked after quarterly earning announcements. So will it stick this time? Or I should at least take some profit for now and wait and see.

Q: Hi all, as background, TA is selling assets to RNW early in the new year (January 2016). RNW miniority shareholders need to approve the transaction, but it is accretive and RNW would boost its dividend by 5% immediately so approval looks probable. Upon completion of the transation, TA will own 64.3% of RNW, which is worth $5.78 per share (based on an RNW market price of around $10.00), plus TA does have other assets (unfortunately coal fired plants in Alberta, but they must be worth something). So I am wondering why you think TA shares are trading at only $4.20, which is a 27% discount to the value of its investment in RNW only?

Q: Hi Team! Looking at the XEI high-dividend ETF. The energy weighting is 27%. I believe that at some point next year, all energy companies will cut their dividends to below 2%. If that happens, wouldn't the ETF manager sell energy companies? It's called "high-dividend", so the rule must require a stock has a yield > 4% to remain included? If they didn't, it'd be a nice way to go long energy (diversification + 0.2% MER). Better go with ZEO or XEG and bite the 0.6% MER. What do you think?

Q: Hi Peter and team,
A recent question on ESL elicited the comment that it misses estimates about half the time.
What would you say about CSU - what is the approximate frequency it misses? I'm guessing it's lower.

Q: Stock has been declining with the price of oil. I have learned as the dividend yield increases due to a stock price drop, the liklihood of a dividend cut increases and this company has cut its dividend before. Do you foresee a dividend decrease here and would you expect the stock to increase or decrease in such an event. Continue to hold for the long term?

Q: Shares dropped another 20% from September - bought back another 120,000 shares. Also hedged another 12 months of much lower gas costs. They still have high debt but maybe a reasonable short term hold??? Your opinion again. Thanks.
