Q: Hello,
I was reviewing the data available via TD Waterhouse including Thomson Reuters reports, and compared revenue and net income growth in the past 2 years of Amazon, vs Alibaba vs JD.com (all somewhat in the same industry but latter 2 in China).
My read is Alibaba and JD.com have significantly higher growth in both metrics than Amazon.
Would appreciate your review please and thanks.
Brian

Q: Hi Team, Recently, JP Morgan listed these 5 US companies as their top AI picks. Would these be 5iR's top five US AI picks? If yes, then can you rank order the picks for me. If not, what would your picks be and/or what would you add/subtract from the above 5. How would you rank order this revised list?
Thanks Team. Chris

Q: Is HAS.us a good company to have as a dividend grower and a reliable dividend payer? Out of the 10 years past, it has grown dividends in 7 ; its ROIC is 17%. Metrics APPEAR good ( do correct me if I am wrong).
Having been horribly burned in retail and consumer discretionary, I am cautious to put hard earned cash into HAS. Do you think its business model is sound for at least 4 or 5 years? Is it not hostage to consumer whims (if you forgive the leading nature of the last question). Do you think the risk-reward ratio ratio in HAS.us is good-- and, importantly, why please? What do you think of its prospects, both WITH Mattel and without. Your rigorous reasoning is always appreciated, many thanks

Q: Hi Team, can I have your take on MRVL - Marvell Technology Group Ltd.
would this company be classified in the same industries as INTC, NVDA or TXN. Does it have a good growth prospect. I realize that you do not follow US stocks, but been hearing of this company for the first time in the last weeks and last couple days keeps coming up on US sites. Thank You in advance. Sam

Q: Hello Folks:
Could you please give me your view on Merck and Company (which along with Smith- Kline) has had problems executing new drugs (eg. lung cancer medications) in their pipelines. I also have previously owned Gilead, whose new HIV drug was reduced in value because of government pricing restrictions. My other health care equities are Johnson and Johnson and Knight Therapeutics. Do you think there are better health industry options (with decent dividends and growth potential) in the U.S. other than companies such as Merck, Gilead etc. or should one look to another sector.
Thanks for everything
brian

Q: The tech meltdown hurt today, but the stocks which cost me the most weren't tech. Any idea why Visa and MasterCard were pummeled today? American Express was actually up on the day. And as long as we're on the subject, do you like the credit card companies?

Q: I already own AMAT with good gains.
Would you be adding at this point perhaps MU or LRCX? Or do you think the industry had a good run and the gains are done? Is sentiment against them now or this is just a hiccup? I know only time will tell but I would value your take on it.

Q: I just read a Globe and Mail Business headline which read as above: FANG meltdown and then the article talked about face plants, sector roatation etc.

In you opinion, is there something truly fundamental going on here; and do you see a need to bail or significantly reduce exposure?

Or is this another example of “Big Noise” and sensationalistic reporting .... and as you often suggest “stay the course”?

With significant holdings here I am hoping your advice will be to hang in there and maybe even add to some of the FANGs.

Thanks

Q: Dear Abby .... I mean 5i : Given the industry’s past-habit of over building capacity in good times, I half-expected Micron to weaken a bit. Notwithstanding that, I also read that the foundries had learned their lesson and were no longer jumping into adding capacity. The sudden and scary drop from impressive heights in MU’s price doesn’t look wholly justified. Although the share price increase may appear dizzying, it isn’t THAT much when one looks at multi-year price-history. For exemple although this year’s chart shows more than a doubling in price, I show 30 odd percent gain, having held MU for several years . I checked the financial sites and didn’t see much that explains the suddenness in price drop . Morgan Stanley unkindly dropped off on Monday a negative blurb on chip makers and most Semi’s dropped after opening on Monday. I read the said report and was not as convinced as Morgan Stanley seemed to be. I later saw MU had a positive report (Baird) . Obviously, I am missing something important . I am much too shy to ask to see your Bloomberg terminal . Your insight and DEEPER look and subsequent comment into this issue would be most appreciated.
