Investment Q&A

Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.

Q: I assume that the share price fall has resulted from the short seller claims, and that the law suits could go against the short seller if those allegations are false. I further assume that the short sell attack is opportunistic rather than a valid critique of the company. But
I do not know the project history. Do you know if there is substantial validity to the short seller claims, or if there are substantial impediments to the projects success?

Q: Hi Ladies and Gents, hope you are doing well! Can you please provide your thoughts on Largo's latest earnings? Anything stand out to you, positively or negatively? Holding a small position since I think metals will do better 2H2020 with rising inflation, but not sure LGO should be part of this basket. Do you have other favorite materials companies that you think have good leverage in this scenario?

Q: Hi there, thanks for the update and information on KRR. Also, good to see that KRR was 'indirectly' owned in the growth portfolio through MMX, royalty with KRR, which just got paid out US18M.
I forgot to ask, who is the institutional investor that invested in KRR? Can you help assist in finding out who that might be? Are there any other institutional investors involved with KRR?
Also, do you believe the high profile drilling areas were strategically left to be drilled after settling past royalty arrangements on Higginsville/Beta Hunt?
Seems as though management and the Board have set things up really well here for future growth, and much higher gold production!
Are there any Falconbridge/Inco folks still left on the KRR Board?
Thanks for the help, much appreciated!
Thanks!

Q: The Portfolio Tracker recommends a broadly, geographically and sectorally diversified portfolio of stocks and bonds. The suggested allocation for basic materials, which I presume includes gold, is around 4%. In addition, none of the model portfolios include gold.

In recent questions from readers, you have increasingly given positive recommendations about holding gold. Is this an evolution in your views, or do you still recommend that readers invest based on the geographic/sector allocations similar to the portfolio tracker. If you do feel that investors should be diversifying further by asset class and buying gold, what percentage of one's portfolio would you recommend? Do you have any plans to adjust the portfolio tracker allocations, or the model portfolios to include gold?

Thank you for your excellent advice.

Q: Hi 5i,

Could you elaborate on your response to Hussein's question today on KRR: "We do own MMX, and interestingly it was just shut out of this KRR financing."

Also would appreciate your top 5, shotgun approach, for a basket of gold stocks.

Thx,
Chris M.

Q: I wonder what your opinion on this small cap gold producer is WRT peers? I don't see any mention of it , anywhere. All the numbers seem to be moving in the right direction, but am I missing something? I realize it is higher risk, but should it not be seeing more upside given the run up in gold recently? Are there better small cap gold producer options?

Q: I have no exposure to silver. Only a little to gold and is it to late for gold ?
could you recommend a Canadian ETF for silver?
do you think silver will play 'catch up' to gold ?
would a precious metal ETF be wise. Which one?

Q: Hi there, looks like Eric Sprott is boosting his stake in KRR (formerly RNX), any further thoughts?
Peter, you were involved with Eric Sprott and know him quite well, can you provide any thinking that goes on with his methodology when it comes to investing even more money in a small cap (producing mines) gold company as he just did with KRR?
Can you please confirm if this is the highest he's paid for KRR/RNX shares?
I believe KRR is setting itself up really nicely, with tailwinds helping it start a new run in share price, again! your thoughts would be appreciated?
Just curious, what would KRR need to do (check off list if possible) in order for you to ever consider this small cap gold stock to be included in the 5i Growth Portfolio? Gold seems to be finally proving itself, as an investment, now that its holding above $1800, with possible new all time highs.
Any additional metrics, ratios or analysis for KRR would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
Thanks!
