Q: I've read/heard various things about "Commodities" being poised to do well. When commodities are being referred to, how does this refer to specific stocks or ETFs that can be purchased on the stock market? Are we talking the commodities market, certain ETF's, gold and silver stocks, etc.?

What is your best suggestion on stocks, etf's that would benefit from this positive "commodity" outlook?

Q: I have approximately 2% of my portfolio invested in MMM in a RSP and with decreased share price and current outlook of industrials would it be a better choice to sell and add to either SPY or VIG for the long term ? I would appreciate your opinion.Elizabeth

Q: HXS is a swap based ETF and VFV has a traditional ETF structure.
If these are held in a non-registered account I understand that the VFV
adjusted cost base likely changes every Year due to distributions and
creates "tax tracking" paperwork. Am I correct in assuming the adjusted
cost base base of HXS will not change every Year because there are
no distributions and hence "no tax tracking" paperwork?
I essentially want to buy HXS and hold for the long term and
not have to concern myself with annual changes to ACB
usually associated with ETF's.

thanks in advance

Q: Hi 5I,

Could you please suggest 3 or 4 ETF's that would be tax suitable for a non registered income account. I now have a mix of large cap Canadian Dividend stock (Bank,Utilities), in the account and a GIC ladder.
I'm looking for minimal 4% monthly payout , higher is better.

Thanks

Q: Hello,
I would like to buy S&P 500 index through ETF. Could you explain the differences among VFV/T, XUS/T and ZSP/T. Which one of them you recommend? Should I convert Canadian dollars to US dollars to buy SPY? Should I buy hedged ETF(S&P 500 index)?
Thanks
Victor

Q: There were a lot of people calling into Jim Kramer (Mad Money) about this market drop - as it is difficult to understand him, he was saying don't average done (basically) wait until the market stabilizes, etc. and when the market does, good stocks (i.e. Fang stocks) would be one of the first to lead the market out of this. There was a rate hike and Trump seemed to be going after a trade war with the Chinese which Kramer seemed to be saying was the cause. Two weeks ago Larry Berman predicted there would be a 20% drop within the next 12 months. How do you see this and what are your recommendations? What is a good ETF for Fang stocks? Thank you Dennis

Q: Hello
My Self Direct RRSP account holds approximately 50% in the older couch potato version XIU,XBB,XSP,and XIN. The balance is primarily Canadian dividend funds found within your income and balanced portfolios.
Now that I have retired should I sell the original 4 couch potato funds and replace it with the new Vanguard fund (VBAL) plus keep a few of the better dividend stocks.
Just looking to keep it simple and not stress over re-balancing and diversification.
Thanks
Gary

Q: I currently don't have any REIT exposure and think I should focus on a broad ETF for more safety and diversification as opposed to some of the smaller cap REIT's I have previously held although they do have much higher yields I am concerned about the risk exposure. Would this be a good time to start a position in ZRE and/or do you have another suggestion?
Thanks,
Craig
