could you please compare CSH.UN, with O (Realty Income). I'd like to add something in this space, to about 5% of the portfolio, but Chartwell's debt seems fairly high to me. You've said in previous questions that you also like SIA. Would they have better overall fundamentals than CSH.UN?

Q: Could you please provide your thoughts on Brick Brewing as a company and what you think of their stock at these prices?

How will the recent changes with regard to allowing beer to be sold outside of the LCBO and Beer Store effect BRB? Thank you.

Q: Jason Donville not long ago was on BNN and CRX was one of his favourites. He will be on BNN shortly and people will ask him about Concordia and he will probably say I got out of that in mid Sept. at $117.00 because he didn't like the idea of them issuing all the shares. By the time I was aware of this share issuing thing with Concordia the stock was under $100.00. Is there any place that people can keep up to date on movements these companies are doing to cause the stock to go down? Thank you. Dennis

Q: I would like to add to a request from Denis today regarding figuring out when to sell.
A set of guidelines would be really helpful if it is even possible to put together a coherent applicable strategy

As a side note, I am getting annoyed listening to some of the BNN guys or reading posts from all the other smart alecs who talk about sitting on piles of cash .... almost gloating at the market melt down ... while they appear to be rubbing their hands in glee .... over all the bargains that are out there. All the while I sit here in agony - and I used to think I was risk tolerant, but have discovered they are more limited than I thought - while watching so many of your and our favorite names fall apart - not just 10% (if only!) but more like 20-30 % or worse. And now even to break even some massive price increases are going to be required.

I want into that other game.

What do I do?

Hoping to learn another lesson after seeing so many terrific gains evaporate.

Does it make sense to utilize my tfsa to the maximum allowable contribution amount first before depositing into RRSP? Im thinking yes since we are having to pay tax when we withdraw from RRSP upon retirement.

I believe you meant to say BOS looks better because it is the stock that dropped $6.

Q: Hello to everyone. As a long term investor rather than a short term trader I do not see anything positive about short selling.It seems to cause excess volatility,hedgefunds to blow themselves up, making great trading fees for brokers, etc. I also doubt that all the short sales have the "borrowed" stocks.
My question is "why should short selling be permitted?" After all one cannot sell anything else that one does not own, eg, I cannot sell a car or a parcel of land that I do not own. How can shortselling be good for the stability of the market? If one does not like a stock, sell it. There are also options available if one desires to take a position on a stock that he may not own.
I appreciate your answer and will probably get a lot of flak or be told that I am naive. Thank you.

Q: Not a question but two comments. Thursday CXR announced a bought deal at $65, a discount OF 10% - and the issue was oversubscribed.
And now it is not just Hilary: Democrats in the U.S. House asked to subpoena the company (VRX) for documents relating to drug price increases, the latest move by politicians seeking to curb price hikes on acquired drugs.
Concordia Healthcare Corp.’s public share sale is done and dusted.

What is happening with this stock? It went from super star to super crap in 10 days. What could possibly cause such a dramatic reaction? Is it a buying opp or is something broken here?

Q: Hi Peter, Not sure what is going on? It is down 25% now for today? Reading your commentary does not look it is a bad buy at this point. I own 50% at $88 and rest at $65. Not sure if I step in and by some more now(for 5 years hold)? What is its next year PE with this price point? Also do you think financing and the merger both are 'done deal'? Can you please also do a little fundamental analysis on this for us?

Q: Michael Hainsworth made an allusion this afternoon on BNN's Market Call that Concordia will be meeting with potential lenders on October 1, in NY. I can't seem to find anything on this item, including CXR's own website. How does this figure into the greater scheme of things at CXR?

Is your advice, overall, to "hold" on this stock? I was in at $49, with a full position, so the stock is still "up" for me, at this point .... but who knows for how long?

Can you confirm whether or not CXR was able to complete the stock offering at $65 before things fell apart? If not, is the financing at risk given market conditions? Would this limit CXR's ability to close on the acquisition?
