Q: I have investments in the listed Investment Trusts for income.
With the problems in the Retail Sector (Sears, The Bay, etc), and the growth of on-line shopping, are the values and incomes of any these Trusts exposed?
REI.un and CUF.un have been on a steady decline.
Thank you in advance for your comments.

Q: Hello,

In the real estate sector, I have a position of 7% in D.UN, and 2.5% in CUF.UN. Both positions are respectively held in my TFSA and RRSP. I would book a 15% profit over the past year if I were to sell. How important is it to be exposed directly to real estate?

What's your thought on selling to buy more growth oriented stocks since I am a young investor and don't really need the income. What would be your company suggestions? I am currently underweight in consumer defensive (3% ATD.B), industrials (3% SNC, 3% WJA) or/and could also add another position in technology (2%BB, 2%PHO, 5% OTEX, 6% KXS).

Thank you,

Q: Good Evening
Yesterday when you answered Michael's question you referred of a Mr. Michael Cooper. My broker's site is showing that the CEO of this company is Jane Gavan.
I noted that the CEO has increased the number of shares held from 20,000 to 38,000 in a year. Is this a positive sign in holding the stock?
Furthermore do you have any figures with respect to the ownership percentage by the insiders of this company?
Would you view the insider activity as positive, negative or neutral for D.UN ?
Thanks

Q: I hold smaller positions of the above collection of what I would consider to be "second tier" income stocks in an unregistered account. I also have BIP.UN, CSH.UN and HR.UN in a TFSA. I want to raise a bit of cash before the snow melts; which two or three of these would you sell first?

Thanks for the wonderful service - I've just renewed again!

Q: Good afternoon guys,

Please take the necessary number of credits..... My first question is about AX.UN. From what I have read, they seem to be managing the downturn in Western Canada fairly well - partially by diversifying in the States. Your thoughts on its prospects at this point in time? Does the distribution look (relatively) secure?

Second question pertains to Dream Office. Michael Cooper indicated that he thought the dividend at Dream Office would be lower within 2 years - likely due to their downsizing/rightsizing/upgrading their portfolio. Would you be inclined to wait for the stock to fall further before dipping your toes in?

Final question - Dream Industrial's payout ratio is getting too high. Do you see them cutting the distribution? It just seems that every time they report things look a little worse than they did in the previous quarter.

Thanks again for all you guys do. Great service.

Q: Hi 5i,

My investment horizon is +10 years.

My interest is in REITS and Retirement Home Funds. My thoughts are that the future is pretty safe in these investments, but especially so in the Victoria area. I am wondering if you are aware of funds that are diversified, but have an extra or special focus in the Victoria area. Please deduct two questions if you like.

Such a wonderful service 5i !!!

Q: I'm down 26% in D.UN and down 88% in ALL, a tungsten co. D.UN has been moving up somewhat lately. Either will provide a tax loss of about $2,500. If I sell D.UN I recoup about $7,000 to allocate anew. A sell of ALL recoups only $300. I'm concerned a US interest rate will knock D.UN & REITS back a bit and a 2nd rate hike spring/summer will really push them down. ALL finally has the Korean tungsten mining play going forward it seems, so maybe some hope for price increase in 2017. Sell one? Sell both? Thanks 5i.

Q: HI guys,
I own shares in ESL which is down 25% this year so far. I am debating adding to this sector by purchasing SH or selling ESL. What are your expectations for SH for 2016-2017?
I also own MST.UN through a non registered personal account and am looking to buy D.UN-they are giving a 9.2% return. Would you consider this a good acquisition given the low real estate environment in Alberta? Do you think keeping this in a personal non- registered account is a good move with respect to taxes?
Also I plan to buy shares in Suncor and then doing closed calls. I have never done this before and am nervous about it because I don't really understand it. I also don't know which website to use to research calls and sells on a daily basis. Any suggestions?
Thanks for all your help,
Rob

Q: I have all 3 of DRG.UN, D.UN & STB in my wife's cash acct but only because of their very high monthly dividends - averaged at about 8.5%. However, I want to drop 1 & while STB would seen the obvious choice as it does not move the needle very much, I am concerned as to the ongoing viability of DRG.UN as related to Brexit, etc. Your opinion - Thank you.
