Q: Peter, my two real estate companies in my portfolio are CIG and FSV and I want to rebalance down to 10 or 12%. I have read your recent comments about these companies and would like your opinion as to what two or three real estate companies you would use in a balanced portfolio. I am thinking of selling both and buying some stocks with more upside.

Thanks, Stephen

Q: Hi,
I purchased FSV on June 1 and I wasn't completely sure whether I purchased the pre-split entity or the post-split entity as Colliers has not shown up in my portfolio. Yesterday, it showed a loss of about 60% (another member commented on this drop) and a price of approximately $20. Today, my price on BMOInvestorline is showing about $80 but the TSX is showing it today at about $34. I called BMO and they said I had indeed purchased it pre-split and that Colliers would appear in a few weeks (which I thought was odd).

Do you have any thoughts on the above? Are there more than one FSV trading now? Are any other members facing a similar situation?

Thanks,

Q: Hello Peter & Co,
I'm hanging on to FSV for a while longer until I decide what to do (keep FSV, keep CIG, keep both, sell both. A cursory comparison between the 2 divisions indicate that Colliers was more profitable in 2014 with EBITDA to Revenue ratio of 9.8% vs 7.5% for FSV; a hardly sufficient basis of comparison.
What intrigues me is your rational for shedding the old FSV a couple of months ago.
You're suggesting to hang on for a while longer; but how will one decide what to do next?
Thanks,
Antoine

Q: I hold First Service Corp (FSV) in a registered account and it has grown to a full (5%) position in my total portfolio. I anticipate reducing my holding post company split. The stock price continues to march higher. At this time do you think it is under valued, fully valued or overvalued based on the anticipated results of the successor companies over the next 12 months? Which of the two successor companies do you prefer, Colliers or the (new) First Service Corp going forward and why?
Thanks, Tim.
