Q: I am two years before retirement and have a moderate risk profile. My current allocation is 25% Canada, 70% US, 5% Developed, and 0% Developing. Considering the state of the economy in Canada and Trump's threats about tariffs, I am wondering whether it's a good idea to decrease my allocation for Canada to 20% and instead allocate 3% to VWO and 2% to ILF. What's your opinion on this? Where do you anticipate better returns—in Canada or in the emerging markets covered by VWO and ILF?

Q: hello 5i:
Like some other asking recent questions on the above: I've held this as I've seen it as a very low risk, high dividend, preferred. As it's no longer held (for all intents and purposes), do you have suggestions for something to replace it, possibly in the consumer staple category, though not necessary.. Other preferreds are already owned in companies like Enbridge, Fortis, etc.
thanks
Paul L

Q: Tourmaline has a contract to supply LNG.How many years are left and at what price. Will this contract have a huge impact on TOU if not renewded. I know that Nat Gas is driving their sales. With TPZ being seperate are they well positioned to continue their dividends. 5i has rated TOU a best in class stock which I own and have small investment in Cheniere.. 5i does future hold well for the stocks if recession appears in 2025 or 2026.
Q: I purchased DRX around $9, and have a 3/4 position. Do you think it is a hold or sell? I'm okay holding for another year or so if needed, but I know there are lots of other opportunities in the market right now. Thanks.
Q: Can you please comment on WELL announcement today about doing a spinout next year. Do you think is a compelling reason to initiate a position or add to an existing one?
Q: With the recent drop in price would you view it as a buying opportunity and if so can you see it going back to the $600 mark?
Q: Hi Peter and Ryan, can I get your take on the above. Regards Anthony

Q: Hi 5i team.
I'm currently overweight Suncor, have a full position in Whitecap and less roughly 2/3 position in Freehold Royalties. I'm thinking of lightening up on Suncor and putting the dollars into a USA producers. Would you please list your top three USA domiciled oil and/or gas producers, why you prefer them, whether you would trade Suncor for any of them?
Thanks
Peter

Q: What's up with CPX? I like my utilities to be boring, not bouncing. It leapt up by 7% last Friday, only to drop by more than 6% yesterday and is now down another 3.5% today.
It's done very well in the last year. Is that likely to continue? Would you hold, or trade this one for another utility?

Q: Greetings 5i, could you please provide an analysis of Q1 2025 results? The market seems to like it. Thanks.
Q: I owned CLS in 2000 and unfortunately in 2001 and rode the dot com bust all the way down. What is different, if anything, this time around? My 1/4 position is now a 1/2 position, thank you, but it has gone up too high too fast, and I have a long memory. At these levels is it a buy, hold, or sell? Or is it a keep your finger on the trigger, which is not my preferred buy and hold strategy. How will I know when the tide is turning or turned?

Q: On December 10 5i recommended UBER to a member seeking a few US industrial. names. First off I thought UBER was in the tech sector but more importantly, it's stock in the past year has risen a paltry 5.5% and has fallen over 10% in the past month. Hardly a robust record during a pretty good year for these sectors. Why the recommendation?

Q: Interesting comments in your latest Market Update about small caps. In addition to any potential upside in 2025, we are close to the possible annual January “bounce”. If you had to pick 5 (ranked) Canadian small caps to take advantage, which 5 equities would you lean towards? Also, is there an ideal ETF that would cover all the small cap basics? (2 questions)

Q: Dear 5-i:
In answer to a question on Dec 6 concerning Waymo, your reply was that it was a buying opportunity. I bought!! How material is the news today concerning GM. Should I sell and forget the loss.
Thanks, BEN.
