Q: No Question, just a comment. I agree these short attacks are getting to be borderline ridiculous. I believe there should be consequences for companies that are profiting from false information.Although I live out west, I have submitted my complaint to the OSC. Email: inquiries@osc.gov.on.ca

Q: Everyone I know under 30 is basically a TV cord-cutter or a cord-never (sp?). I know that all three of the telecoms have had significant investments in the TV / cable, and I'm concerned that longer term, TV will go the way of the landline. Is this a valid concern, and should I be getting out of the telecom industry? I currently hold Telus (T) and it has done very little for me in the last 12 months.

Q: Hi Peter,

I have an idea I would like to run past you to see what you think about it.

I like stocks that pay me dividends each month. Now if companies that pay every three months would change their format to pay monthly it would be an advantage for us dividend collectors and a huge disadvantage for hedge funds that like to short stocks, as they would have to pay those dividends each month and maybe they would think twice before shorting stocks.

Pretty hard to implement but an idea.

Q: I currently own a small position in Concordia, approximately 2% weighting and I am considering buying more based on the CEO comments today reinforcing the auditors report. Please give me your views of the company presently and your longer term prognosis. I know how leveraged the company is but do you believe they are a "Valeant" in the making ?

Q: I was looking for previous questions and answers on CCL Industries CCL and could only see two Q & A going back to January this year. I am sure I have read more previously??

CCL has gown to 6.7% of my portfolio, though it would have been less if oil had not taken such a hit. It's one of the few stocks that we own in RRIFs that does not seem to have pulled back and I am loathe to sell to balance the portfolio becbecause of its performanceause of its weighting.
In a case like this, is it appropriate to hold on, or should we trim and buy something like Winpak?

Q: I bought AYA at ~ $6 and sold my last shares @ $32 after reading the 3 page article in the Globe & Mail about their CEO David Baazov. So thank you Peter and company for having this stock in your balanced portfolio. But the game is over, for me it ended with the Globe article. So please do the right thing and replace this dog with another winner. Time for spring cleaning.

Q: There has to be some consequence for these short sellers when they are spreading rumours that cannot be substantiated. Apparently in the US they have slightly different rules for short sellers. Apparently there are some regulations is in effect before the stock is driven down.
Is this true and if it is, why TSX regulators do not do something about it to help investors.
Could you shed some light on it and is there anything we can do about it.

Q: In response to Matt's question. These short attacks are becoming a contagion on Canadian stocks because these shorters are not accountable for anything they say. So how as small retail investors can we fight this ?
If the regulators do nothing then this will only get more prevalent.
Would a collective response to the regulators make any impact?
This is certainly a worrying development as your (5i's) manadate is to help level the playing field for us small retail investors (of which you are doing a great job). If this predatory behavior is allowed to continue then eventually the small investor will leave the market never to return.

My rant for the day.
